Live blogging today and tonight

March 19th, 2008 at 10:33 am by Dave DeJonge under Inside WOOD TV8

Tonight WOOD TV8 is hosting a statewide town hall meeting featuring Governor Granholm and 50 people from across the state.

As part of that event, I’ll be blogging throughout the day and during the show to give you a behind-the-scenes look at how a show like this comes together.

    To: Governor
    Here is a Good Question:

    From: A Concerned Citizen
Regarding Money Owed to State of Michigan for Over Due taxes. I have learned that there is almost $1 Billion owed to the state that is over 2 years old and older. We could use the $1 Billion for a lot of things. What are you doing to collect it and is it true that the state outscources the collection activity to a company based in Texas and not with a Michigan-based company – WHY?

she just keeps repeating herself and is not addressing any issues and/or having no knowledge of? if she knows nothing of these problems no wonder this state is doing so awful!

  3. ajm says:

she mentioned healthcare and i almost jumped out of my seat here, because if she had any working knowledge of that field she would most certainly know of 4+ years waiting list, especially at the community college level. she doing nothing but manipulating all these people that encompass her -what in the world is she talking about now? i have no clue… she is nothing but irrelevant.. her motto for michigan ” all workers left behind” one would assume.. I can’t even get a simple pothole filled.. asking for a job would be like asking for god himself to come down and fix that pothole.

  4. ajm says:

she doesn’t even want to be there.. in 2002 is when she became governor, is it not? she should have been embarrassed to say that when the 200,000 jobs left here… she was most certainly right when she said “in five years you will be blown away” – everytime i leave my place it looks like i’m driving on the MOON baby… nothing but third world roads here

  5. ajm says:

why is she laughing? i don’t see anyone else laughing.. this is not funny!

  6. ajm says:

in other words, she might be on vacation..

  7. ajm says:

why did you do the easiest possible thing when the state was going to be shutdown, which was raise our taxes? not only that, but why did it even come to
the point of a shutdown when you planned on raising our taxes anyhow? that was the last thing that should have been done for the worst struggling state in america.

P.S i don’t know for sure, but i assume the roads don’t look like this in Detroit.

  8. Daniel durst says:

Why are the people she is addressing hand pick

  9. MPW says:

blah, blah, blah – blame someone else…hire someone else as another scapegoat…

  10. ajm says:

    ..or fire this one?

  11. MPW says:

    fire this one? I wish!

  12. ajm says:

MPW – do you think i’m actually blamming someone or addressing the issues that this sate is actually in FACT suffering from?

  13. Lisa says:

I currently was severanced from a banking position in Kalamazoo and I am know toying with the idea of applying for the NWLB. My husband at one time was self employed and has elected to take full-time position. His employer offers a very high deductible plan for medical insurance. My question is how can a middle class family go back to school, afford two growing children, have reasonable health insurance, and maintain their monthly payments? Do you see a future on extending unemployment?

City of Wyoming using an Ohio company to COLLECT water bills
City of Wyoming was using an out of state company to COLLECT accident billing,
State of Michigan using a Texas company for tax collecting,
How many other examples of outsourcing are their for Government in Michigan?

Don’t we have these types of people and employers in Michigan?

Where do we have a listing of jobs, not just for bilingual Chinese in Grand Haven, that are being outsourced or in need of being filled NOW.
