Gustav Gets Grand Rapids!
That was about as close to a hurricane as we’ll ever see here in Michigan. We’re too far inland to get hurricane force winds, but every few years, the remnant low pressure system of a hurricane comes north into Michigan. Gustav was a drought-buster for parts of West Michigan. Here’s a few of the heaviest rain totals: Grant – 5.30″, Ada – 5.08″, Zeeland – 4.87″, Dorr – 4.86″. At the WOOD weather station downtown we had 4.41″. See NWS map of rainfall here. A few spots in Ottawa and Kent Counties had six-to-seven times more rain in 24-hours than in the previous six weeks combined. You could almost hear the trees soaking up the water. In eight hours Thursday Night, the flow of water down the Grand River in Grand Rapids nearly tripled! The center of the low pressure, which was the eye of Gustav passed over Benton Harbor to SE Kent County to just north of Saginaw. The fastest winds were on the east side of the storm with gusts to 30-35 mph. Some growers have already chopped corn for silage because of the dry weather, but many crops will get a good boost from the soaking rain.
Sorry to hear that Jennifer.
I hope you guys are ok.
Oh Jennifer!! Could you two please have the why of this checked out? You could undergo testing to find out why this keeps happening. You could have genetic testing done on the fetus to find out what happened. There are so many wonderful treatments out in the world these days to help couples have children. I am so sorry!! Dr. Douglas Daly is a reproductive specialist as well as the colleagues in his office. I am no doctor, I only type the reports, but I have heard really good things about him.
Marti thank you! I actually go to Dr. William Dodds who is a reproductive endocronologist. We have both had tested and nothing is wrong with us. Except for the fibroid I had but that is now been removed since January. I also had low progesterone but we have fixed that now. Dr. Dodds thinks that baby had a chromosomal abnormality which we will find out after the D&C because they plan on doing testing on the baby.

WOO HOO! I’m the LAST to post !!!
Wow! How cool in that eh? : )
Bill I accidentally deleted your response email to my post above about “my body is like a heat pump – I’m always hot ” but I just wanted you to know I almost sprayed my coffee all over the computer – I laughed so hard! : )
not so fast cb…..haha
Dag nab it you whipper snapper Bob P LOL! : )
Bill, I’m trying to imagine a hurricane over the state of Michigan….in theory…..much of the state would get slammed; roofs from homes & business blown off, power outage all over the state due to millions of power lines down, severe flooding in many parts of the state, and just so much visible destruction that will bring any Michigander down to his/ her knees…..not a pretty sight. I’m glad we just have to deal with tornadoes and blizzards…..OMG! did I just say that??
