Is anyone out there?
Earlier today (Thursday) a giant radar telescope in the Ukraine beamed out Bebo (a social networking site) messages to a planet more than 20 light years away from us. The messages passed the moon in 1.7 seconds, passed Mars in four minutes and will be out of the solar system in 24-hours. Any return messages (in my opinion, the Detroit Lions have a better chance of winning the Super Bowl this year than we have of hearing from any E.Ts) wouldn’t get back to us for at least 40 years. Bebo invited their 12 million users to compose messages for any aliens that might hear them. The messages are headed to the planet Gliese 581C which is 120 trillion miles away from us. I wondered if instead of turning their telescopes and radio transmissions to outer space, they might train them on Washington D.C. and see if they can find any sign of intelligent life!
lol right on
Bill, we know that answer already..without even turning those telescopes…..
Better chance of continuing to scan the galaxy and finding intelligent life out there than in washington..I want my money back!!!
Wouldnt it be cool if they recieved a return signal…
with that being said….they probably have already scanned us and flew away as fast as possible..
what an insane waste of billions of dollars, and expense of personnel,
to what end? for that matter, why the ridiculous cost of nasa’s unnecessary projects, billions that we don’t have! to achieve what?
moth ball this kind of lobbyist pork crap, and channel to finding energy alternatives, and oil/gas production, something we need! badly! pathetic waste.
Joke I heard on the radio. What do diapers and politicians have in common?
Both need to be changed alot and they are filled with the same material.
Maybe we shouldnt invite ET until we straighten our act and goverments out here on earth, they might see us as a threat to the galactic stability and economy they (ET’s) enjoy.
I say we focus those beams to clean house not eavesdrop.
Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Crafts………….Maybe Karen will answer?
Anyone under 40 will probably not get that….

Reminds me of my favorite scene from “Independence Day”
So Dumb when we are facing such a difficult time financially. I will never understand this waste of time, energy and money.
Here this is for Charles and Jim L

Yes Bob I like the sound of the warm temps…of course most long range forcast (not the NWS yet) are pointing to a cold winter in the eastern half of the US..I for one hope that long range guess is wrong but we will have to take what we get…lets hope any space buddies we find know how to help us fix our problems here on Earth as we need all the help we can get….SlimJim
I wouldn’t be too surprised if God Himself, tired of all this space exploration, would reach His hand out of the sky and wave at everyone. They might even get a message back from Heaven!
So here’s the question of the day…. Suppose this wasn’t totally ridiculous and a horrible waste of time, money and resourses and there were extra terrestrials to send emails too.. what would yours say?
Just curious!
“E.T. phone home.”
You got it 100% right,Bill!
