Latest 8 to 14 day temperature outlook

This is the latest 8-14 day temperature outlook from the Climate Prediction Center. It sure looks like we’ve turned the corner and we’re headed slowly toward winter. No more 70° or 60° temperatures and incursions into the 50s will be rare and brief. I’m nearly done with my forecast for the winter, which I’ll post here probably in a couple days. I am inclined to think that cold weather will be the rule rather than the exception the rest of 2008 and that we have the potential for a couple of significant lake-effect snow events with the lake temps. still fairly warm. I’d have the winter plan ready to execute (winter clothes ready, snow blower gassed and ready to go, plows on and ready to go for the last 10 days of November, etc.).
I’m ready but I’m certainly not looking forward to it.

I”m sure the day will come when I will wish retract this statement– but at this point, I’m actually excited to see some significant snow and whatever winter has to throw our way! So bring it on!!
I wept a little reading the above forecast, big happy alligator tears!!!! LOL

There are a couple of positive aspects that I can see about the winter. First, there are no mosquitoes. Second, It takes less time to snowblow my driveway than it does to cut my lawn. Also, I don’t have to get out in the rotten weather and drive to work anymore.

One good thing is if it gets cold now it might warm up latter…Its another typical November day, that is cloudy, cold with off and on light snow.

Well today has been rather depressing lOL
I did pick up about a 3/4″ of snow last night though.
It’s weird… my room sits at 76.1F but I still feel a cold draft from somewhere.. I woke up to chilly 62F this morning in my room. I was under 2 blankets, fully clothed and I was shivering bad.
Snowstorms are fun I just wish it could be like 80F and snowing..
There is nothing more beautiful than the sun shining on a field of trackless snow – especially when it’s on a postcard you’re looking at while under a palm tree sipping a daquiri.
I’m with you there John! In the Virgin Islands or somewhere like that!

Looks like Winter is poised to strike over the next 14 days and beyond. Snow, Snow and more Snow! Yippee! I cannot wait to read Bill’s Winter Forecast!
I estimate 106 inches of snow with lots of cold this Winter (both lake effect and snowstorms). Lets see, 110 inches of snow would break another record right?

Dale, looks like a decent chance for LES, esp. Sunday and then a shot at a synoptic event on Monday. We only need an inch to increase the visibility in the woods dramatically. Good luck buddy.

Chances are improving for some colder than average temps thru Nov 24th, which could improve our chances for snowfall.
A warm up is predicted for the 25th, 26th but that may be short lived!

How warm was it down there?
I think.. this next storm will give us our first DAYTIME accumulations of the season, which many areas have not seen that yet. I can’t say how much yet.. too early.
Ahh hunting. Had a 6 point buck and 4 Does on the property last week. All quite big and rather juicy looking LOL Not sure if I will go though this year or not.. Haven’t decided if I want to freeze my butt off yet LOL
Last night I warmed my room up to 86F and kept it there for hours.. I love space heaters!
It was in the mid 80s all weekend. Lots of sun and nice ocean breeze, had a suite with balcony and it rocked listening to the waves splash against the side of the ship all night! You need to try it man it rocked!

Hoping to get the lawn/leaves mowed one last time early Saturday before any snow… anyone know how much they are forcasting for Saturday and when it is going to start?
I sure hope we get a ton of snow this year early, just not too cold though! I don’t want winter to linger into March again!
I often wonder why we feel the need to forcast the Winter. Perhaps I should leave the rational unsaid.
Make it simple – it is going to be cold – it will snow -
But someday in a little while – say late April the flowers will begin to bloom and the grass will become green
