Snow showers into this PM

Snow showers continue overnight into the midday. I’ve got nearly an inch on the ground on the grass at my place. The ground and pavement are still warm, but a heavier snow shower could certainly produce some icy spots. The coming week looks cool. Often the last hurricane of the season brings an end to the warmer weather. High temps. this week mainly in the 40s. The Advisories and Warnings for northern Michigan has expired. Up to 11″ of snowfall (9″ on the ground at Shingleton in the U.P. Five inches of snowfall at Ironwood and Munising. Up to 10″ of snow fell south of Gaylord and 6″ at Mancelona (which is melting slowly).
0.5 inches should be East Grand Rapids, not East Lansing.

Anyone been out and about lately? I am hearing alot of accidents on the scanner at work.
The roads are pretty bad. Alot of black ice, especially on bridges. The I-96 M-6 Interchange was really bad. I almost went off the road.

About 1/2″ here in Gaines Township; roads and sidewalks are wet…icy in some places. Bill, you predicted snow within the first two weeks of November, and you were right!

Hearing alot of accidents on US 31 and the bridge going into Spring Lake (the way I take home). I hope they have 104 and 96 taken care of by 11pm. Are they even out tonight?
I notice that the geniuses in the website warehouse don’t have the clock set yet. Just took my garbage out and I have a little snow on my car.

That is some intense snow going on up there!
Very light snow. Unless it was just me, wasn’t M-6 bad for black ice? One time I took and could barely stay straight. Got off asap.
I didn’t think there were any spot of black ice tonight.

Been watching that Gaylord webcam most of the night Bob. They are approaching what looks like a foot!!! I am so jealous. At least the ground is white over this way this morning. Just a dusting, although I see to my SW, in Howell, they are reporting 2″.

DH says the roads are that bad. He is not sure why there are so many accidents because he did not hit any icy spots and he has to travel country back roads to get to work!

Well now that the inevitable is here (*sighs*) When will we see the next accumulating snow fall be? Wondering if a snowblower is in my future?

To sbanchorage: You asked in the other blog if I had an HD anntenna. I believe when I had to get a new tower antenna a couple of years ago, they included the HD device on it. I am going to hook up my converter box to this TV and see what happens. I just tend to watch the majority of my TV in my bedroom (which is the “Rabbit ears” set) after the little one goes to bed.. I am too exhausted myself and just settle in bed for the evening to unwind & rarely use the main set in the evenings.
Eaton Rapids received about 1/2 of snow on ground this AM… YEAH!! My son was bouncing off the walls as well as all the other kindergartners at his school.. poor teacher
I remember when I was kid.. that first snow was awesome.. I still get thrilled and can’t wait for hopefully a very snowy winter!
Hey Sheri…You can get a splitter and hook up both of your TV’s to your tower antenna. You may be able to pull in WOOD that way into your bedroom!
Looking forward to some REAL snow, hopefully by Thanksgiving.
We need to be emailing Congress people about the funding cuts of the roads with plowing and salting as soon we’ll be getting alot more than just a 1/2 inch or so of slush dumped on us .. and it won’t be melting. You can email to them online. Do a google search, write to Governor too. We need funding for roads to come FIRST – this is a safety issue!
I looked out my window Sunday evening and saw this white stuff on the roof of the carport and on the grass. I started wondering what it was. Either God allowed manna to fall from heaven again, or it was……..it’s a 4-letter word…….not sure I want to say it…….ugh this is so hard…….snow?
