Angels Respond to Angel Tree

December 8th, 2008 at 4:34 pm by Eva Aguirre Cooper under News

Last week, 24Hour News 8 reported on the possibility of theft from some of the Angel Tree Toy Drive donation sites. While the police investigate whether this was a volunteer or not, I wanted to share what so many others are doing. Early in the campaign, I received a call from Kristen wanting to help out with Angel Tree. One of their clients, Two Men and a Truck volunteered their services to help the Salvation Army with major pick-ups and transporting toys to distribution sites. This was Rob Fletcher from Wyoming.  Tim Sibilla from Fed Ex also called offering their services to assist with this year’s campaign. I could go on and on with hundreds of names of people wanting to help this holiday season. Unfortunately, this does not alway capture the headline but does make an impact in helping families during these difficult economic times. With over 450 locations from schools, churches, businesses big and small, people are stepping up to the plate to help families in need.

So to all those Angels in our community I want to say a BIG THANK YOU!

  1. Larry of Hastings/Barry Co. says:

What my wife and I do, we put money into the red kettles at different locations. Last year I was a bell ringer. This year unable to do so. I heard so many wonderful things about the Salvation Army, on how they have helped so people down thru the years. I never heard any bad comments about the army.

  2. We would like to know if we would still be able to get signed up for Angel Tree. Our pizzeria is located on West Leonard Street near Walker Ave. Thank you in advance. Rose DiPiazza
