The strong winds hammered the entire Great Lakes Region. The peak gust at the Buffalo, NY airport was 75 mph. Numerous jetways were blown into the terminals. Winds were gusting to 50 mph during the Patriots/Bills football game, where field goal attempts were almost making a right angle turn. Before the game a portion of the roof was torn off the Buffalo Bills Field House and a concession trailer was blown over. Several injuries were reported. The goalposts were bent in opposite directions due to the swirling wind in the stadium. That must have made for an interesting tailgate. A seiche occurred on Lake Erie, as strong wind gusts of over 60 mph piled the water up at the east end of the lake. The water level rose above flood stage. Waves on the lake were 10-14 feet.

It sure was windy….lucky around here we did not get the massive power outages. Glad I’m not on a freighter in any of the lakes…that one would have been a tough one to ride out!!!
