Sunday Satellite Pictures

<–Click to enlarge. The first picture is Sunday of a clear Lake Michigan. Note the jet contrails over the lake and extending onto land (see the thin shadow). The second picture is Lake Erie, where the 130+ people had to be rescued for walking out on the ice on a 50-degree day with a southwest wind gusting to 30+ mph. Really dumb idea…even solid ice can pull away from shore, and you can see the ice in Lake Erie is not looking any too stable. The final picture is the entire Great Lakes. Note that Torch Lake up by Traverse City is open water and not frozen. Check out the thin strip of ice across Traverse Bay. You can also see by the brown ground around Saginaw and down toward Coldwater where the snow has melted off. We made 40 deg. in GRR today, 38 at Muskegon. We won’t know until the climate summary comes out around 1:15 AM, but this could have been the sunniest day since last October. I’ve got another couple threads coming (inc. one from my daughter, Michelle on the devastating fires in Australia right where she lived as an exchange student…so come on back later tonight.
WOW! Warm up opened the Lake back up huh? Bright sunshine today and yesterday, winds strong but warm, I think it hit 53 degrees.
Saw you at the Wood Tv booth yesterday at the Auto Show Bill. What a neat view to watch the sunset by the Grand River! Winter on schedule to come back late Thursday?
I love these satellite photos of the Great Lakes. (They make great conversation starters and desktop graphics, especially down here in Texas!)
