THIS IS THE FIRST REAL UPSET OF THE NIGHT… ALL YEAR LONG, ALL OF THE CRITICS I’VE HEARD OR READ SAID THAT “Waltz with Bashir”, Israel WAS THE BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE MOVIE HANDS DOWN. WOW…. too bad I had to rely on others for this category.

No upset. Assumption that Waltz with Bashir would be chosen was dubious. Many critics made that assumption not actually having chance to watch Departures. Academy voters for foreign language film were required to watch all of nominated films, not like those who made quite unprofessional judgements.
All nominated movies were wonderful and they all had a chance to win.
