West Michigan’s only drive-in now open
Getty Drive-in now open for season
Muskegon’s historic Getty Drive-in opens tonight (April 17) for its 61st summer season.
General Manager Kevin Sims says “We’ve got just a few touch ups left and we’ll be ready. The traditional calls and email from customers who want us to get opened up have been coming in for a few weeks now. The staff is very excited to get started.”
The Getty Drive-In is located at 920 E. Summit Avenue (on the corner of Summit and Getty Streets) in Muskegon, Michigan. For showtimes, head to their website, the first features each night start at dusk (around 8:30pm).
Celebration! Cinema says that the largest screen in the Getty complex is the 100 foot-wide number one screen. The Getty Drive-In features first run movies, double features and an in-car stereo sound option. It is the only drive-in theatre in West Michigan and one of only 378 drive-in theatres in the country.

“It is the only drive-in theatre in West Michigan”
What about the Sunset in Hartford, MI? It was still running last summer. Is it not considered a drive-in movie theatre? Just wondering…
What about Coldwater MI? While not what you would call traditionally West Michigan, Capri drive in is a Great place for family fun. Combine that with the many lakes, Go Cart track, walking trails, Opera House, Eating establishments, Little River Railroad, Minnetonka Moccasins, Strawberry Fest, Car Show, Cival War Encampment, Great Hospice Duck Race, Ice Fest & Chili Cook off, the list goes on and you would find Coldwater a great place for a family weekend get a way. We have nice Hotels, Good Eats, Antique Shopping, Gift Stores with a small town friendliness you will not find in the city. Take a drive to farm fresh eggs, fresh farmers produce, or a real dirt track sprint car race. Visit one of the many campgrounds and listen to the bull frogs croak, fish for bass, float on a pontoon. With times as tight as they are we should all be looking at supporting local merchants. Believe me this is a great inexpensive location for a weekend get a way.

Been enjoying the area for 20 years.
Christine and B Kelly – I apologize, sometimes we forget about southern West Michigan…
I hope that the Sunset Drive-in (69017 Red Arrow Hwy, Hartford, MI (269) 621-4194) and the Capri Drive-in in Coldwater (119 W Chicago Rd, Coldwater, MI (517) 278-5628 http://www.capridrive-in.com/ ) can forgive me.
The Capri is open now, but I’m not sure if the Sunset Drive-in is open yet.
