Contest to see “The Chaos Experiment” before it opens in Grand Rapids
I will have a limited amount of tickets to giveaway for the May 5th premiere of “The Chaos Experiment” at Celebration! Cinema North… so here’s the contest, its easy: just leave a quality comment on any of my blogs (old or new)… and when you do, include your name and email address in the comment section, so I can contact you. The person with the most quality comments wins!
Some additional details about the May 5th invitation-only premiere:
My source tells me that the premiere for “The Chaos Experiment” will not include any celebrities, like the main cast, but there will be a representative from the company.
My source also says that Celebration! Cinema worked to get the movie to have a theatrical run in Grand Rapids, since it was filmed here. Apparently the costs were too high to release the movie in other cities, and the market is better for DVD.
After the premiere, “The Chaos Experiment” will be available for one week for the public starting May 8th at Celebration! Cinema North and Celebration! Cinema RiverTown. The weeklong run from May 8th to 14th will include limited screenings at least twice a day.

“The Chaos Experiment” will have a private premiere on May 5th, 2009, in Grand Rapids at Celebration! Cinema North. Local cast, crew and vendors that worked on the film, along with city officials and media will be the first to see the first movie to shoot in Grand Rapids after the tax incentives were passed. The thriller starring Val Kilmer and Armand Assante shot in Grand Rapids last fall.

Grand Rapids premiere of ”The Steam Experiment” set for May 5th
The psychological thriller “The Steam Experiment”, the movie that spent 16 days shooting in Grand Rapids in September 2008 will make its Grand Rapids premiere on Tuesday, May 5th.
“Steam” was the first movie to shoot in Grand Rapids after Michigan’s film incentives went into law, it stars Val Kilmer, Armand Assante, and Eric Roberts.
Details of the May 5th showing are still in the works, but are said to be an invite-only showing for the West Michigan cast and crew.
There’s no word yet on if any of the movie’s main cast, crew, Director, or Producers will be in town for a red carpet event.
And there’s no information yet when and if the movie will be released in other cities.
A DVD release of the movie is expected later this summer, possibly in June.

Hi Aaron,
I came to know the movie as ”The Steam Experiment” during an 8 week class for PA’s recently. Mitchell Nyberg, Unit Production Manager for ‘Steam’, was one of the great instructors for the class. Seeing his work on the Big Screen would be a great experience for me.
Did I mention May 5 is a great party day? Cinco de Mayo and my Birthday! What a great gift a ticket to ‘Chaos’ would be!
Thanks for the great contest and for sure PICK ME….
Mardi
It was a neat thing for this film to be filmed in the Grand Rapids area. So much in the way of bad things going on around here. Something like this always peaks the interest of those of us who are movie fans. I remember years ago when George C. Scott was in down for the filming of Hardcore. Town was quite abuzz back then also. Hope the movie does well, maybe it would peak some interest for future film projects. This area as well as the rest of the state could use it.
OOps forgot the all important info on ME!

Dont know much about the movie, just excited to see something filmed in a familar place.
Was down at the Chop House when this was being filmed next door at the Boar’s Head. Assante came downstairs between shoots and enjoyed a cigar. West Michigan has become a pretty happening place and you just never know you you might run into.
Looks like a very interesting movie with a rather dark premise.

Wow,this is truly amazing. I feel like I’ve been hidden under a rock. I didn’t even know this movie was filmed here in Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids has a lot of excited things going on this year. I lived here all my life, and it just gets better and better.
Truly exciting. Free tickets or not, this is one movie I will be supporting.

It was such a wonderful thing to see them film in Grand Rapids. The scenes at the Grand Rapids Press building and at the carousel at Van Andel Museum look amazing, from what I could tell from the trailer. And it’s great that the director is choosing to return to Grand Rapids to film his upcoming movie during the summer (thanks to John Serba from the Press who wrote about it in the paper a while ago).
It will be interesting to see how the story unfolds. I’m hoping that it stays true to being a thriller as opposed to the typical corny indie movies that attempt to be thrillers, but end up being too silly to categorize as one, if that made any sense at all. The intensity between Val Kilmer’s character and the GRPD cop looks and sounds great, and I hope that intensity carries throughout the film with the bath house scenes.
I’ll be hopeful and add my email: tim.ton@aquinas.edu
Good post, thanks for the review.
