pratt-kansas <–severe thunderstorm moving into Pratt, Kansas Monday PM.  Click three times on the picture for full-screen and a heightened sense of excitement.  A little farther down the road, this storm produced a 90-mph wind gust at the Hutchinson, KS airport.  Here’s the LSR on that.   McPhearon Ks. had a gust to 83 mph.  Two businesses and at least 13 homes lost all or part of their roof in Hutchinson.  Three semi trucks were blown off the road.  Numerous large trees were toppled.  Power was knocked out to most of the south side of Hutchinson.  The storms also produced baseball-sized hail.  Hail up to 1.5″ in diameter fell at the Wingnuts Baseball game in downtown Wichita.  A total of 19 tornadoes were reported in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and S. Dakota.

    Today I noticed that the SPC is plotting bigger dots on its warning map for Sig-SVRs.
