Two nice days ahead
<–Two bald eagles enjoying the sunshine near Greenville, MI. – picture from Roger Harris at POSTED. The warmest day we have had so far in 2009 in Grand Rapids was way back on April 24, when we got to 85°. Manistique made 72° Sunday, the first time they got past the mid 60s this year! They are at the northern end of Lake Michigan in the U.P. and a south wind comes off the cold waters of Lake Michigan. The first two weeks of June were 5° cooler than average in Manistique. Grand Rapids is 3.0° cooler than average for June (through the 15th). We have still had only two days in the last 19 days when the average temperature for the day was warmer than normal. Grand Rapids has only had 0.98″ of rain this month so far. Ludington got above 70° Monday for the first time since May 21. They are 7° cooler than average for June. Pellston, MI finally got above average on Sunday for the first time in 24 days. The stretch of 23 cooler than average days at Pellston from May 22 to June 13 saw them 8.6° cooler than average. During that time they dropped below freezing 8 times. Denver, Colorado hasn’t made it to 80° this month. They’re average high is 82° today. Denver is 5.7° cooler than average for June. It’s finally starting to warm up in central Canada. Churchill, Manitoba finally got above 40° for the first time on June 8th. They were 10 degrees cooler than average in May and had a stretch with 46 of 48 days being colder than average. There is still a solid ice cover over most of Hudson Bay. The cooler than average water temps. on the West Coast (cold PDO) has kept the coastal areas chilly. Los Angeles (civic center weather station) has had only one day warmer than average since May 22 and during that time the warmest temperature has been 76°. San Diego (airport) hasn’t been warmer than 71 °since May 22. San Francisco (city) hasn’t been warmer than the mid 60’s in nearly 3 weeks.
Looking at the 18z model run, it looks like we could have a few uncomfortable nights this upcoming week…The reason I am forecasting this is because of dewpoints that are going to be in the mid-60s to low 70s and low temps. in the upper 50s to low 60s…
Not the best for sleeping, but not the worst conditions either!
Could have a stormy week ahead?!
Its about time for some real summer weather.
SlimJim
I am having problems sleeping tonight, muggy. I guess it’s time to hook-up the A/C.
Should note about Denver: We’ve had 8 straight days of severe weather (today will be 9). Over half of those have confirmed tonado touchdowns; the others…? Just funnel clouds but nothing on the ground. June sucks here!
Friday could be very interesting….
tease….. Big storm heading our way and thus I think the cold front will hold off a tad and could see some area’s getting to 90° then perhaps a severe weather outbreak for the great lakes…
Though we’ve had some wild weather over the last week or so, our winter was very warm and almost snowless in the Denver area. I think mother nature is making up for herself in June…but the summer is still early. I’m sure everyone will be complaining in July when it’s hot/dry and everyone’s lawn is brown ;-D.
WOW IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME NOW ITS GETTING WARMER AND SOME PEOPLE
ARE ACTING LIKE ITS THE END……. BETTER TURN THE AIR ON!!!!!!!!!
Who is acting like it’s the end ??.
END OF THE BEST START OF SUMMER IN YEARS.. SOME MAY THINK ITS
HOT OUT AND COMPLAIN! NEVER TO HOT IN MICHIGAN! WE HAVE WAYS TO KEEP COOL!
NOT EVEN 80 YET MOVE NORTH!!!!!
You know its been so cool so far this summer that when it dose warm and humid it will feel all than much worse for some of our people who are not used to it being warm in the first place. But it should be noted that ever ones comfort level is different.
So far its a nice mid June day here with sun and warm temps and very low humidity. Enjoy!

I am looking forward to the warmer weather..perhaps my vegetables and fruits will began to produce more..My flowers are doing great but the vegetables are off to a slow start.
Ready for the garden variety t-storms but can live without the damaging weather..
Enjoy the weather!!
Bill, another wonderful day here in west Michigan.
Sorry but I’m loving this warmth!!! I leave my house open at night then close it up (blinds down)while at work, it keeps it cool for my dog & cats. Come home to cool house, but I open everything up even though it gets warmer in here. It’s just so nice not having the heat on, being able to have everything open and fresh air coming in. I don’t think this is overly hot! When it gets into the 90’s and humid then the A/C comes on then and only then.
No complains here!
Storms this week–Awesome!!!
im hearing it could reach the high 80’s either friday or next week sometime. thank god summer temps are here, to hell with the 60’s for highs. i knew that wouldn’t last into july / august.
Certainly is a bold forecast to say that it’s going to get out of the 60’s when normal highs are in the 80’s. Way to go out on a limb.
Maybe some hot weather here for the Fourth of July holiday??

Hi Bill,
I was wondering how long you expect it to rain on Wednesday? Do you expect this to be an all day event or for it to clear out about 6 or what. Thanks. Trent from Wayland High School.
For the first 15 days this month Breckenridge stands at -6.3 degrees per day.
I’m ready to chase storms Friday/Friday night…. Camera-check, mobile phone-check, street level radar account-check, my junk van in case of hail-check….
