Tornadoes and Monster Hail!

Hail in Blooming Prairie <–tornado Weds. PM that heavily damaged the IAMS pet food plant near Aurora, Nebraska and monster hailstone from supercell at Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.  At 10:35 PM we had 5 tornado and 5 severe t-storm watches in effect.   At least six tornadoes touched down in SE Minnesota and NE Iowa.  One of those twisters caused injuries and substantial damage in Austin, Minnesota.  Cars are reported flipped over there.    Power was knocked out to much of Austin.   Mike Geukes sent this link to some cool pix.   The progs. have been having a little  trouble with all this.  I just looked at the 00Z NAM and it doesn’t quite have the IA/MN stuff just right.  The 18Z microcast which I show on TV has one batch of t-storms moving through south of a line from N. Muskegon to Jackson around late morning tomorrow (may be overdone)  and another batch around midnight-2 AM tmorrow night.  The air is more stable in eastern Wisconsin and certainly in West Michigan, so the threat of tornadoes here tonight and tomorrow morning is close to nil.  BTW, we had trees down Weds. AM in Lowell, Wyoming and Walker and it was attributed to heavy rain, not wind or lightning.  Sounds weird to have rain knocking down trees.  If anyone can provide any further information on that, let me know.

The Tornado in Aurora, Nebraska was a huge wedge tornado. My boyfriend, who is a storm chaser witnessed the almost mile wide tornado touching down. It has destroyed the Iams dog food plant in Aurora. No word yet on any injuries. He got some awesome pics of the tornado.

My folks said they seen a good sized tornado in Missouri but I haven’t seen any reports pop for it yet. It was about 7pm our time, and I know it sometimes takes the SPC to post those reports. My mom says she got pictures, I’ll see about posting them when they get home. If she will let me any way.

Bill, with the so called “storm” arriving “later tonight” as you stated in your first two reports at 5PM, you put the weather tracker on it 17 hours from now is NOT “later tonight”, heck it is mid to late morning TOMORROW. Please, “LATE TONIGHT” is anytime up to midnight, “EARLY MORNING” is anytime AFTER MIDNIGHT. Just thought I would throw that out for you. Oh, one other thing, why do you call those cement projections out in the lake water “pier’s, they are “breakwater’s”, are they not??. Have a great day, I love the weather myself, come from New England myself “where the REAL PIER”S” are. Would love also to see small segments on Mt. Washington, NH, home of the “Worlds Worse Weather”. I would like to stay in touch wth you if possible. Thank you. Good job.

Maybe it was God’s way of saying be a littler nicer to animals Iams Company. I’ve been reading up on that company and they have been doing animal testing and leaving these animals to starve and neglecting them. So therefore I don’t feel a bit sorry for the Iams company.

You don’t have a clue what God is saying. What you are saying about God is way off base and out of line. Don’t use the Lord Gods name in vain. State your beef plainly. Don’t drag God into “your” misguided attempt to expose a great misdeed. Do you care for anyone?

    Jennifer… you are cuckoo.

  10. Susan says:

We used to see trees down after a rain out in California because of the high level of soil saturation. The rain turned the soil to soup and the roots on the larger trees just couldn’t hold them up. Just a thought.

Although I disagree with Jennifer on the animal rights issue, I don’t think she used the name of the LORD in vain with her statement. I wonder how many people lost their jobs. Sheena, is NIL an abbreviation? If it isn’t, it means none. Where was it this past week that they got 3′ of hail?
