WW0510 RADAR Thumbnail Image Lots of severe reports from SE Michigan Thursday PM, inc. gusts to 75 mph at Fraser and gusts to 65 plus 1.25″ hail at Lake Orion.  Funnel clouds were reported near Macomb and they reported a 68 mph gust at Sandusky, Ohio.  It much have been fun being on the roller coasters watching the storm come in a Cedar Point.  Cleveland had a gust to 62 mph.  They also had a gust to 62 mph at Whitewater, Wisconsin southwest of Milwaukee.  Here in the shadow downwind from Lake Michigan, we didn’t get the storms.     Here’s the visible satellite loop (daytime), current Michigan weather observations, the latest Grand Rapids NWS discussion, Grand Rapids NWS radar, Great Lakes radar, national radar, lightning loop, storm pictures on POSTED, and current U.S. severe weather watches.

It looks like the hit and miss variety. Getting a little cloudy but storms are looking like they are going north

  2. Lance Vanhooren says:

I hope the house doesn’t get hit by lighting again. Last friday cost me 700$, but it was fun :)

  3. Larry of Hastings/Barry Co. says:

I am ready for what ever happens. It’s warm and hazy.

    THUNDER STORM WATCH TILL 10…………….WHY

  5. Jeff (Richland) says:

Looks like a miss for western michigan. All the storms are developing on the east side of the state. Any ideas why nothing is going on here and out in to Wisconsin? It sure is hot and humid here, seems perfect for storms.

    2. fixxxer says:

i used to live in Detroit and they always get better severe weather than over here.

  6. fixxxer says:

it will all be east and maybe south of gr, once again this watch was not needed but i guess after the tornado fiasco they have to issue these no matter what.

  7. is this are storm page now?????????????

  8. eeeeeee says:

feels like the cold front if starting to move through GR

    1. fixxxer says:

not till late saturday, i will admit the temp dropped off though, i may turn the air off now.

  9. Cyberg says:

Looked like it would make it across the lake an hour ago. I predicted rain here in Whitehall at 3, and then “poof” it just fizzled. I figured if it stayed together across the big pond it surely had to stay oragnized once it made landfall. Anyone know why that happens? Seems to defy conventional wisdom.

    1. eeeeeee says:

ya were cursed, no good storms ever hit here anymore

      1. they used to back in the 1950’s :)

  10. AT 422 PM EDT…NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED

    GRASS LAKE… BROOKLYN…

THESE STORMS ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING SMALL HAIL…STRONG WIND
GUSTS…FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING…AND BRIEF DOWNPOURS.

    1. Even those are dying fast.

  11. Jennifer K (Plainfield TWP) says:

They moved us out of the watch. seems more appropriate now!

    1. fixxxer says:

whats the point of even issuing a watch? they knew nothing would happen and it won’t saturday either, maybe they should all go back to school and learn how to even guess a forecast.

Real nice storm tops in the sunset last nite to the south. Orange and pink color. I thought they mite have been just south of K-Zoo,but looking at radar they were south of SouthBend,In. They showd 50K tops. Quite impresive. Anyone else see them? 69.7° here now and i like it. My fam in Pratt,KS has had 97° or so the last 5 days.

  20. Travis (Oxford, MI) says:
