Two +90-degree days

June 25th, 2009 at 7:23 pm by Bill Steffen under Bill's Blog, Weather

We made it to 91 on Thursday in Grand Rapids, Holland, and Battle Creek.  Kalamazoo made 92.  This was the 2nd day in a row of 90-degree heat. We average two 90-degree days in June, and those were our two days.  We’ve been about 8 degrees warmer than average over the past week, but it looks to be cooler than average nearly all of next week.  It was cooler near Lake Michigan this afternoon with highs in the upper 70s.  Thursday’s highs of Holland (79) and at S. Haven (80) both occurred at 11 AM before the lake breeze dropped the temp. back to the mid 70s.  The Grand Haven Channel reached 81 and the Muskegon Beach stopped at 77.4.

We need more hot days so we can have a summer! but maybe next winter will be warmer and have less snow then the past couple of winters. We are over due for a warm less snow winter..sorry Bob.

im not liking these colder temps again, i hope we don’t stay in that weather pattern again. i saw the 15 day outlook and even the 4th looks cold with showers, what a crap summer so far. bill how long will be cold again? i cant imagine going though july & august in the low 70’s, that’s usually our hottest months. where the hell is all of this cold air coming from? Canada cant be that cold all year round, can it?

  3. Dan says:

I’d like it to stay warm. I guess I will not get my wish. Monday and Tuesday will be cooler in the low 70s. I hope we will get a few more nice warm days, after all it is summer!

Did I just miss a day? Is this Saturday and I showed up at work for nothing??

    1. Amanda says:

I am also confused, Todd. I believe that it is Friday today and that we hit 90’s on Wed and Thurs the 24th and 25th.

“cooler along the lakeshore” can be misleading. while it may have remained in the 70’s right at the lake it has been very hot(upper 80’s-low 90’s) here on the southside of holland where i live just 3.5 miles from the lake!

  15. fixxxer says:

bill how long will it stay cold starting next week? will we see the 80’s again or will we be stuck in the low 70’s for another month?

I was working at the lakeshore today, and even with a NW wind at 10-15 mph, I was still sweating like crazy in the sun. It didn’t really feel any cooler than inland, and there were no clouds at all.

  22. Tyler says:

Yeah I know it just cant stay warm in Michigan well just the U.P. At least in Minnesota they get an actual hot summer well at in the central to southern part of the state. I can say the only places that dont get a summer are the U.P., Northern Minnesota and North Dakota.

  23. fixxxer says:

i can tell the front is coming through, much cooler today and very windy. still not liking these next two days in the 60’s, i hope it gets warm again?
