Random Rothbury Notes

Had three interesting things come across my desk today – not a lot of info on any of them, but I found them compelling enough to share.

First off, Verizon said that they’re boosting their voice capacity by 300% and their data capacity by 500% in the Rothbury Festival area for the weekend. They’re using a generator-powered mobile cell site to do it – not sure if that’s the greenest method, but I’m sure it will be appreciated by those folks who are with Verizon. Not sure what the other providers are doing, so let’s move on…

One of my favorite restaurants in West Michigan is closing up shop for the weekend, and heading to Rothbury instead. San Chez will be serving tapas in one of the VIP tent areas. My mouth is watering a little, and I’m hoping my media credentials will allow me access to this delightful dining area… though I’ve heard there are some excellent veggie burritos to be had on-site as well!

And finally, beloved West Michigan musician Ralston Bowles is going to be taking the big stage at Rothbury on Sunday – as he continues his battle with cancer. The Grand Rapids singer-songwriter looks to be hitting the Odeum stage before Willie Nelson. It sounds like a lot of folks pulled together to make this happen, so make sure you come check him out.

And now, let the packing continue…
