Heavy Rains
<–flooding Thurs. evening in Monticello Iowa (there’s a street in there somewhere). Second picture is about 18″ of water on the gym floor in Central City, where schools are closed until a crew from Chicago can clean up. Extremely heavy rain in eastern Iowa has caused flash flooding and evacuations. Monticello reported 10.56″ of rain just Thursday. Keokuk has had nearly 12″ in 2 days. One location near Cedar Rapids had 5″ of rain in 2 hours, and 8.34″ in 30 hours. Rivers are flooding, roads have been washed out (inc. US 151) and they are asking for volunteers to fill sandbags. Check out Storm Total Rainfall from the Quad Cities Nexrad and the Local Flood Reports from E. Iowa. Finally, here’s a cool double rainbow.
When can I cut the lawn. Is there a market for baled grass?…Kentucky Blue!
To beat that……….I am scheduled to fertilize this weekend.
Please help. We have an outdoor party Fri. night 6pm in Zeeland. Do you think we need to rent a tent or will the rain be done?? Weather gurus, what do you think??
6pm from what I’ve read will be a tough call, probably want to keep the tent handy.
Anyone want to park down by the river? I am sure that you can blame someone for it getting ruined. glad I don’t live by one so not too much worry here.
I mowed my lawn in time. So I am set, bring on the rain *plus I am not flood prone*
Sue your party should be ok………supposed to clear up by evening:)
I can’t believe how green my lawn has been this summer. No break this year in mowing the grass.
Looks like it’s way past time to cancel the watch for Kent and Ottawa counties at least.
I like the rain. Just long as there is no severe weather here… strong to severe stuff… TOs (tornados) or power outages, etc. im ok. I know some u ppl who comment on weather blogs love the bad stuff I dont lol.
