Grand Rapids Film Festival Aug 26-28It was a long wait and now its over as quick as it started.  But after 3 months of planning (short by festival standards), it all came together in the end for the four organizers.

“Like Dandelion Dust” wins its 9th Film Festival Award, winning GRFF’s Best Feature.

Two local filmmakers came away with top prizes.

GRFF Audience Choice: “The Commandant” by Ross Vande Waa (filmmaker from Holland, MI) won  $1,000 for his short film  (showing at UICA Saturday at 3pm).

GRFF Best Short Documentary: “American Sailors” from Grooters Productions (Holland, MI).

GRFF Best Documentary: “Bicycle Dreams”.

GRFF Best Student Short: “Scarecrow”.

Producers of  “Like Dandelion Dust” say the GRFF is one of the best film festivals they have been to… and this is their 9th win of the festival season.

GRFF organizers are pleased with the turnout for the movies and the panels – exceeding many of their expectations. The organizers say

they are already thinking and planning for next year… plan on a post-mortem next month to talk about the good and the bad and start putting together plans for next year.  Maybe bigger?  Maybe better? More movies? Different days?  More of a festival?  We’ll have to wait again.. until the Grand Rapids Film Festival returns for year two.
