Just a few sprinkles left
<–Live radar of W. Michigan. Just a few sprinkles left this late PM. I’m looking at the latest data, I’ll update the long-term later. Preliminary look shows not cold enough to snow here Sunday AM on the European model. The Japanese model would be cold enough for some mixed snow on Monday…with flurries possible all the way down to the mountains of Tennessee…it has -5 at 850 mb. down to northern Mississippi and Alabama! Here’s the usual links: GRR NWS radar, Great Lakes radar, Storm Total Rainfall, latest surface observations, a surface weather map, GRR NWS discussion, Visible Satellite loop (daytime), Infrared Satellite Loop (night), Here’s Milwaukee NWS radar and Chicago radar, the Spyglass Weather Station (Holland Channel) and the Muskegon GLERL weather station (if they get it back). Small Craft Advisories will be up for Lake Michigan for Saturday. Rain totals here.
I just wanted to be first
.
Good for you:)

It’s been a cold rainy night in Kent City, wasn’t any different in Sparta either. The next 24hrs look crappy, stay indoors if you can! It’s 46F in my area
AHHH! An enjoyable Fall, huh? September was a fantastic month. We are starting October with rain and grey. Hopefully, the rain will let up some throughout this day. GO MICHIGAN!
I’m off to play in a softball tournament in Zeeland today. Yuck! I can’t believe they haven’t cancelled yet.
SNOW! This is from the GR NWS update this morning…..
IT IS IN THIS TIME FRAME THAT THE TRULY COLD AIR COMES INTO THE
GREAT LAKES. BY THE WEEKEND OF THE 10TH AND 11TH THAT RIDGE ALONG
THE WEST COAST OF NA WILL BE STEEP ENOUGH TO CONNECT THE CENTRAL
ARCTIC AIR WITH SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN. ALL OF THE MEDIUM RANGE
MODELS FOR SEVERAL DAYS NOW HAVE BEEN BRINGING A STRONG COLD FRONT
THROUGH THIS AREA IN THE SUNDAY TIME FRAME. THE AIR BEHIND THAT
FRONT IS COLD ENOUGH FOR SNOW AT THE GROUND (BASED ON THE 1000/925
MB THICKNESS TOOL) ACROSS ALL OF LOWER MICHIGAN ON BOTH THE ECMWF
AND GFS. THIS IS TRUE FOR BOTH THE ECMWF AND THE GFS FOR THE SUNDAY
/ MONDAY TIME FRAMES. WE HAD SOME THING SIMILAR HAPPEN IN OCTOBER OF
2006 ON THE 11-12TH. THAT BROUGHT ACCUMULATING SNOW TO MOST OF
SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN. THE CPC 8 TO 14 DAY FORECAST FROM THE 2ND OF
OCTOBER SUPPORTS THIS THINKING. ONCE THE COLD AIR COMES IN… IT
WILL BE SLOW TO LEAVE AS THE WESTERN RIDGE SEEMS FAIRLY STABLE. EVEN
SO… A SLOW WARMING TREND WOULD BEING ONCE THE CORE OF THE COLD AIR
EXITS THE AREA IN THE TUESDAY TIME FRAME. IF THIS DOES HAPPEN IT
WOULD BE A RAIN/SNOW SHOWER EVENT OVER MOST OF THE AREA SUNDAY INTO
TUESDAY.
Been watching those models for a week, just ask charles, On mY FB
Hey gang, during the day today check out this visible satellite animation. The low pressure looks cool on there: http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/east/gl/loop-vis.html
Have a great day everybody
Its a cool wet Saturday AM, I had .47″ of rain sense yesterday. I have now recorded 3″ of rain here this week!
SlimJim
Center of precip circulation looks to be a little west of Big Rapids- a batch of rain heading for E Lansing. Looks like wet tailgating; hope it lets up by game time!
Congrats Timeno!
