Monday Live Weather Thread
<–Live radar of W. Michigan. 3:30 AM Monday. More rain for this morning. It’s a wet start to the work week. Note in the thread below that wet Octobers are more apt to bring cold winters. In weather news: It’s been pretty wet over much of the eastern U.S., inc. Michigan. There’s been some small earthquakes in Arkansas. There’s been another BIG earthquake in Indonesia, +7.0 on the Richter Scale – no tsunami. Here’s the usual links: GRR NWS radar, Great Lakes radar, Storm Total Rainfall, latest surface observations, a surface weather map, GRR NWS discussion, Visible Satellite loop (daytime), Infrared Satellite Loop (night), Here’s Milwaukee NWS radar and Chicago radar, the Spyglass Weather Station (Holland Channel) and the Muskegon GLERL weather station (if they get it back). Small Craft Advisories will be up for Lake Michigan. Rain totals here.
I’m thankful it finally quit raining here at my place!! I hear birds again
I noticed a few days ago that all of the robins in my neighborhood seem to have cleared out. This is something I’ve watched for over the last few years, kind of the opposite of watching for the first robin of Spring. I don’t have any proof to back this up, but it seems they’re gone early this year.
Wow. I actually saw a peak of the sun a minute ago. Now, it’s overcast.
Its just cloudy and cold here now (43°) the rain total for this rain event is now at 2.32″ here.

I saw a fine fat male cardinal sitting in a pine tree this afternoon. It made me think of winter.
I thought our autumn color show was about over up here in the UP, but yesterday and I discovered an encore of color that I never knew about through the Tamarack Larch – a deciduous conifer that suddenly has given us a magnificent show of gold. Absolutely incredible, but the photos don’t begin to capture how amazing the view is up here right now.
rain, rain and more rain, can’t wait for some sunshine. i did notice how dark it gets soo early and how most of the trees by me are already peeked. isn’t this a bit early yet?
