46″ of new snow!!!
<–Deer struggles through deep snow in Colorado & about 2 feet of snow on the poor pumpkin. Drifts of snow are reported over 8-feet high north of Cheyenne, WY and the visibility there was down to 20 yards. Check out the heavy snowfall in Colorado! Up to 45.8″ at Pinecliffe and 40″ at Black Hawk and Evergreen. Boulder’s had 20″! Loveland Pass was closed west of Denver…same for I-25, I-70 (east of Denver), I-76, US 24 and US 34. More info here. The Denver Airport has had more than 6″. Four miles south of the airport they report 11″. Snow totals in the mountains could reach four feet! Winter Storm Warnings continue through today. At 8 PM - snow and 24 degrees in both Denver. Monarch Pass and Wolf Creek Pass reported temperatures of 9 above and Leadville dipped to -2. Akron reports heavy snow and a wind NW at 26 mph. Berthoud Pass is still S+ (heavy snow). Drifts are 5-6 feet in the mountains.
Oh my! I feel for the folks out there…but I hope they keep it all their way, and don’t send it on. That poor Deer…but a beautiful pic.
wish i was there
I wish we could get just one storm this winter like this. That would be awesome. I want to plow some snow in November come on!!!
well us “non plowers” don’t want it. heres an idea, move to alaska.
If you don’t like snow MOVE!! This is Michigan. Remember our slogan? Winter Wonderland.
speak for your self only! We (my family) doesn’t plow snow and would love to get a snow storm like this one. We love snow as for that is why we live in Michigan. Michigan has such beautiful seasons. Hoping for a long snowy season!
Have a good day all!
Please!! dont let it come this way! lol
Not for the whole winter! lol
Bring the snow!!!! Bill to do you have any facts about years where a large snow storm of this caliber happened in Colorado what the weather was like here?
Wow, the kids will have fun trick-or-treating in all that snow:)
Bill they can keep all the SNOW in Colorado. I can handle the upper 60’s just fine:) Hey Bill in the first part of this week when we had two+ inches of rain, just think if it was in the 30’s we would have about two feet of snow ourselves:}
What’s with the “you can have it” or “take it elsewhere” talk? You live in Michigan. For years, the state had the slogan “Water, Winter Wonderland” on its license plates. We get snow. Sometimes lots of it. We also get sunshine, heat and humidity during the appropriate season. We enjoy crisp, cool fall days and warm wet springs. It’s like the picture perfect weather environment.
My suggestion, since you can’t do anything about it, stop complaining or move to Florida with the rest of the country. It will make more land for hunting, hiking and enjoying the weather less expensive for the rest of us.
Just a suggestion!
It won’t work. His joy comes from whining. Everybody knows somebody like that – just looking for attention and complaining is the only way they can think to get it.
Could not of said it better myself.
I can handle snow, but don’t have to like it in October. Sometimes people’s coping mechanism is to complain. I don’t see any harm in it. (Unless it’s overdone, of course…) Let people vent or give their opinion…..
Sorry, just read this post. I said same thing. Totally agree.

Yes Yes Yes Out here in Wyoming we got 14 in on top the 15 we had last weekend, for a total now of over 30 in. The nice thing is down here in the Wind River valley its been sunny but cool. We just head up the road a half hr and its snowmobile heaven. eat your heart out Mi snowmobilers
goneweat-ever!: thanks for the snow-tease!.. currently i’m standing up to my ankles in water(rain) w/ mild 50’s to start the day(10-30) & since i AM one of those “Mi snowmobilers”, i’m evidently having a hard time chewing on/swallowing my heart, atm ;-0
ps -enjoy your SNOW!
Bill – I’m in Aurora (East of Denver). 23 inches or so here in 48 hrs…Not as bad as the December 2006 storm (32 inches in 30 hrs) though, but still enough.
I was in Greeley, just east of Denver 2 weeks ago, with Sunny and 70 degree weather for my cousin’s wedding. How quickly things change!!! (I haven’t talked to anyone there yet, but AM curious how much snow they have got….)
living in gering just got stuck in drift first in 47 yrs of life in hastings wow
Curious if anyone thinks we may get some snow from this? If it has been said I do not get to watch the new often so I likely missed it. Wouldn’t mind a few inches for deer hunting. But the heavy stuff cam wait until after Thanksgiving and we are home from the in laws in the UP!
Happy Halloween everyone!
Hi Bill,
We got home one week today from my brother’s who lives in Parker, CO, which is just south of Denver. We took a road trip to Utah and got some outstanding pictures and the weather was just gorgeous! When we got back to his place we received 5+ inches of snow and there was some snow on the ground when we left for home. It was a long drive home, but as soon as we got to Michigan (no place like home!) the colors of the trees were amazing!! We live is such a beautiful place! I’m glad we were there last week instead of this week!
what type of winter are we in west michigan going to have ? any ideals?
My “IDEAL” is:
150-200%avg snfl; BELOW AVG TEMPS!
My idea: *valid* ONLY if El Nino stays BELOW 1.2 (3.4 tri-peak)–
ABV avg snfl(especially LES belts); SLIGHTLY below avg temps(-.5>-1_)for DJF….based primarily on solar cycle, ENSO, PDO state(near neutral>neg), persistence/trends; and only minimally on analogs(don’t like using for long-term as variables are fluid vs static, and often change radically by mid-end of the season….also giving 2% weight to Farmer’s Almanac (very cold– & implies clippers w/ abv LES.
And of course there will be usual WILD swings and variability yielding periods that defy ‘trends’ but not necessarily overall pattern anamolies.
just my $.02 PEACE
Mike
