Here’s GRR NWS radar, GRR storm total rainfall, Great Lakes radar Storm Total Rainfall, latest surface observations, a surface weather map, GRR NWS discussion, Visible Satellite loop (daytime), Infrared Satellite Loop (night), Here’s Milwaukee NWS radar and Chicago radar, Chicago storm total rainfall, the Spyglass Weather Station (Holland Channel) and the Muskegon GLERL weather station. Gale Warnings for Lake Michigan.
At least most of the leaves were blown off the trees this weekend. What a mess!!
It was an awesome day yesterday over here! Sunny, cool, great fall day! I hope we see a few flakes this week. How is the weekend looking? I’m going to the UofM football game Saturday.
Massachusetts? Maine? Missouri? Mississippi? Memphis? Miami?
Let’s see, I think I’ve covered all of the UofM’s with football teams…;)

No one graduates alive…mmwahhaaa..
Getting old. Add a new phrase to Bill’s phraseology.
I have yet to hear a good explanation of why we are having such a cloudy and wet month.
And if November turns out to be the same – what then?
What a wonderful evening we had yesterday for a walk. The moon was full, flooding everything with light. The air was clean and crisp. Absolutely a joy to walk.
Perhaps this is why we get month’s like October, because our gratitude ability increases.
Hey all. There is some sunshine in the southern counties right now and all the other states around us… LOL
These clouds are making me sick LITERALLY! I need some more sunshine to feel well again. I am liking the looks of the warmer air for next weekend too.. I hope it verifies.
Get off the computer and to some sun, Charles! Even if it does have to require actually leaving Bill’s Blog!
I did every day it was sunny Ben! Today was cloudy!
LOL I am weird. I actually feel better when it’s cloudy.
I feel better when it’s cloudy. That is, if there’s storms, too!
I can’t stand sunshine especially this time of year. I prefer it in the middle of Summer when it’s not at such of an angle. Whatever the case, I’m always more comfortable when it’s cloudy or overcast out.
As far as an explanation for this weather goes, you guys had weeks on end of blazing sunshine back in September. Mother Nature isn’t biased and is simply trying to make those who enjoy this type of weather happy again. The next few months are ours. If you want consistent sunshine this time of year, you might want to start booking your trip to the Caribbean.
one has to wonder why you dislike the sunshine?

Had .14″ of rain here today. The temp has now dropped to 42° so a rather typical early November weather pattern. Yep its the cloudy damp time of the year. We do not get much sun on average from now until late winter (if then) after awhile it gets very depressing but looks like some people like to be depressed, oh well cant please everyone so we have to do the best to please ourselves.
On a winter forcast note Steven DiMartino who has a weather site that caters to the New York New Jersey area has his winter guess out and its kind of similar to Bill’s (if and when Bill’s offical winter guess comes out)

Just because lack of sunlight makes you depressed doesn’t mean it has the same affect on others.
cloudy days don’t make me depressed but why do they make you happy?

Michigan and Illinois way behind in harvesting Corn and Soybeans.
MICHIGAN:
Only 10 percent of corn is harvested compared to the 5-year average of 56 percent.
Only 59 percent of soybeans is harvested compared to the 5-year of 82 percent.
“Rains continued this week and made any fieldwork difficult. Many farmers
hoped for drier weather to aid in the dry down of crops and to dry out
severely saturated soils. Corn moisture remained high. Some growers
experienced high drying costs. Harvest proved to be difficult due to mold
emergence on tips of corn ears. A reporter in the southeast stated, “Some
were being turned away (from elevators) and said to dump it out on the field,
total loss.” Corn silage harvest was nearly complete.
Soybean harvest continued. In the central region, some fields were plowed under. Wheat planting continued as conditions permitted and germination was slow. Bags of wheat seed were available; however, many growers were unsure whether to plant this late in the season. Sugarbeet harvest paused for the time being. According to a producer in the Thumb, “A dry week is needed to finish our harvest.” Dry bean harvest neared completion.” Source: USDA/NASS
ILLINOIS:
“Slow Year for Illinois farmers harvesting Corn and Soybeans. Since 1940, this is the third slowest corn harvest on record at 19 percent and the slowest since 1967 when only 10 percent of harvest was complete on November 1. Soybean harvest is the second slowest on record at 35 percent, the lowest since 1941 when 21 percent was harvested at this time.” Source: USDA/NASS

Dr. D – Wish I was in your neck of the woods. We hit 32 outside of Hastings this morning (the dew on my windshield quickly turned to a thin smear of ice before the truck warmed up). I think it was “just barely” 32….and back to 35 or 36 by the time I rolled into GR around 8.
Had anyone seen the 6-10 CPC forecast? Shows us EXTREMELY ABOVE AVERAGE. I think it’s showing high temps in the 60’s and 70’s.
