Coopersville, MI (July 14, 2010) – Touchback, starring Brian Presley and written/directed by Don Handfield, will be shooting action-packed football scenes for the film at Coopersville High School Football Field on August 13, 16 and 17th. Sports Studio to host open casting call in Grand Rapids for TOUCHBACK
Football players are being sought for a major motion picture to be filmed in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area in late July/early August, 2010.
Touchback is a fantastical story about getting a second chance at life. At the brink of financial disaster, a former football star turned farmer and family man attempts suicide to save his family. However, when he wakes up he finds himself back in the past, reliving the events that led up to his career-ending, life-altering injury. He is forced to choose between his simple life and the path to fame and fortune.
PLAYER REQUIREMENTS: Age 18-30 and have extensive football experience. Players should NOT be seeking NCAA eligibility through a college program. Selected player positions are paid positions.
Interested players need to pre-register by creating a profile and submit for Touchback at www.sportsstudiocasting.com.
SPORTS COORDINATOR, Mark Ellis will be conducting the tryouts. Mark is the action coordinator and head of Production at Sports Studio and has worked on many of the major sports action films of the past 2 decades including JUST WRIGHT, WE ARE MARSHALL, INVINCIBLE, THE LONGEST YARD, and MIRACLE.
Sports drama “Touchback” is looking for experienced football players for movie filming in Grand Rapids area this summer
Experienced football players ages 18-30 are being called for casting in the football-themed fantasy “Touchback”. Some positions are paid and prospective players will need to sign up and register online with the casting company. The company “Sports Studio” (out of Culver City, CA) focuses on getting athletes into movies.
Exact date of casting call will be announced soon… most likely the last week of July… will be held in the Grand Rapids area.
“Touchback” begins filming in late July in Grand Rapids.
Randall Emmett (“Righteous Kill”, “Gun”, “Caught in the Crossfire”) is producing. The movie is being directed by Don Handfield and starring Brian Presley and Drew Powell. Other cast have not yet been announced/confirmed.

TOUCHBACK TO FILM IN COOPERSVILLE AND LOCAL AREA RESIDENTS ARE INVITED TO BE MOVIE EXTRAS IN THE STANDS AT COOPERSVILLE HIGH FOOTBALL FIELD IN KEY SCENES TO BE FILMED AUGUST 12, 13, 16 & 17th
The producers hope to have 2,000 extras filling the stadium stands on Friday, August 13th and encourage people who can only come one of the three nights, to please come on Friday. They will need from 1,000 – 1,500 extras on the following Monday and Tuesday nights. Approximate hours will be 9pm – 6am with refreshments, entertainment and prize drawings nightly.
Filming coincides with the Del Shannon Auto Shows 20th Anniversary Celebration Friday Night, August 13th with entertainment at 9:30pm and fireworks at 10:00pm. Thousands of attendees are expected for the festivities, which will also be filmed for the movie. The Auto Show audience and participants are invited to stay for the filming of the football scenes for Touchback and be part of the movie action!
