Snow Ends
Saturday AM - Some roads are still snow covered and slippery. If you go out to measure snow, leave a comment and let us know what you’ve picked up. Snow in our area was generally 1-4″ with the lightest amounts NE of G.R. and the heaviest toward the Indiana border. The heaviest snow, 4-8″ fell from Chicago across N. Indiana. Here’s regional radar. Freezing rain is fell across southern Indiana and Ohio. We’ll have a fantastic weekend for winter sports – partly to mostly sunny and cool with light winds on Saturday. Clouds are back on Sunday PM. Rain will mess up the snow Sunday night into Monday (temp. climbs to low-mid 40s early Monday) with the rain changing to snow with slippery driving Monday evening/night. Here’s forecast snowfall off the NAM model (out to 84-hours) and the GFS model (out to 120-hours). Here’s current conditions, the HPC snow forecast, and a surface map. First flakes starting to fall now here in Portland .
Looks like the leading edge of the more moderate snow keep falling appart as it moves east .. Chicago will get a good snow outta this one .http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/centgrtlakes_loop.php
Currently the leading edge of the snow is running into some very dry air, however within the hour the dry air will be overwhelmed by the snow and then we have about 8 hours of steady snowfall and some of this could be up to a 1/2 to an inch per hour!
Yeah- we ended up getting a whole 1″ of snow here in north Rockford. Didn’t snow very long at all.
The fine flakes started lightly falling about 3p here in Cascade. It’s not snowing any heavier yet and it’s still the fine flakes.
“Fizzle”. Nice. Let’s see some melting on Sunday.

Waiting at the vets office in kentwood. Medium sized flakes, tightly packed.
Very fine snow falling, with a cold 13.6 with the YARDofDUCKS all honkered down with the pressure steady, humidity going up some at 86%

It will be snowing for at least the next 6 or 7 hours and some of this snow will be moderate snow!
This is a boring system.
Fizzle.
Dusting!
Good Day,
Only about 3/4″ so far here… Some heavier blue between me and the lake according to radar, so whoknows… might get three inches yet out of this…
Steelie
Got to drive in this tonight!! Dusting or not, I hope the roads get cleared and soon!!! I need to move to the desert!!!
Well, Tom, you could wind up driving through a sandstorm or two!!!
Holy DEAD BLOG Batman!
i was thinking the same thing lol
Looks like its about done in spring lake/grand haven area….time to warm the truck up!
wow. This is awesome. Took a break fro pulling all the neighborhood kids behind the quad to eat dinner. Adult time. Hard sprites and more speed. life is good.
“more speed” ???? oh my….
Well, we’ve not had snow for several hours now, and it appears (on the radar) that the major concentration is to our south, sliding W-E through FWA as I write. Our temps are still down (14F), but wind is calm and ttl. snowfall today an unofficial EWAG 3-4″. This from ANQ.
We’ve gotten a good 3 inches of snow here in the Alger Heights area, as measured with a household yardstick on flat sidewalk at my house.
Good Day,
Near Breton and 52nd… Well it’s about 10 p.m. and the snow is pretty much done… We got about 2″ of new snow and I have about 3.5″ on the ground. That might count as a fizzle…
Steelie
BWWAAAK! Snow fail!
I find it odd that yesterday the roads were awful, winds, blowing/drifting, snowing like crazy, schools were canceled yet no advisories or watches/warnings but they issue one for today and nothing.
nothin much but I think ottawa county put the plows away this morning. 31 and M104 were nasty around 7!!
we have 3 inches in Albion looks like a quick burst of mod snow I will messure again at 12am
Hey all! Uhhh… So yeah how about this 3-6″ event?? I am 2 miles south of I-94 in Battle Creek and the snow has officially stopped as of 10:45… Grand total of 2.5″. Looks like this system slid a bit further South than expected. Bummer. I was pretty certain after looking at all the models we would have atleast 4-5″ along I-94.
“FIREkeepers”-effect , Harry?..that place is to snow/cold as a greenhouse is to Frosty!!
What a bummer, we only received 2.2″ from this event. This is by far the worst winter for snowmobiling that I’ve been a part of. We’ve only be able to go last Friday and Saturday, and although we had 12″+ the ground was still warm and muddy. We are going to try and go tomorrow, but it looks like it’s going to be awhile until we can go again.
Looks like a got 1.25 inches here. Clear skies with the cloud line to my south and 9.7°.
Wondering if we should still keep the kids sledding party we had planned a go-3 hrs in this cold air is a bit much. At least it didn’t snow as much as we had thought but man it’s freezing out-17 degrees on our barometer. May have to either reschedule or cut it short. Don’t want any sick or frost bitten kids.
