Showers continue to diminish in Lower Michigan. Nice Waterspouts off Holland St. Park. I’ll get pics. up after the news. Golfball sized hail reported in Alma. We got a number of waterspout pics. from west of Ottawa Co. Small hail reported in the Nunica/Coopersville area and also just northwest of St. Johns in Clinton Co. - Rainfall has been quite variable, with one report of 3.16″ near Coopersville, 0.78″ at the Ford Airport in G.R., 0.13″ at Kalamazoo, 0.06″ in Holland, 0.04″ in Muskegon and just 0.01″ in Battle Creek as of 5 pm. Leave a comment if you have a rainfall total. The timing on this is right for most of us with showers on Friday and Monday and dry weather on Saturday and Sunday. When we have a brisk south- southwest wind, it favors a current along the pier (actually a breakwater) at Grand Haven St. Park (and on the south side of all piers and breakwaters), so avoid swimming near or jumping off the Grand Haven pier on days with a strong south or southwest wind. The 12Z (Friday AM run of the NAM Caribou) is in. It holds temperatures in the mid 70s for most of the afternoon with an average of 0.14″ of rain. We have a dry and pleasant weekend with 85 for a high temp. on Saturday and 88 on Sunday. The raw NAM is 86 on Sat. and 89 on Sunday. Saturday is mostly sunny, Sunday is partly to mostly sunny. Nice weekend.
The overnight NAM model gives Grand Rapids a high of 81 today (Fri), 86 on Saturday and 88 on Sunday. The GFS has 83 today, 83 on Saturday and 84 on Sunday. The NAM Caribou has 78 today, 85.3 on Sat. and 89.4 on Sunday. The % chance of rain off the NAM is 65% today, the GFS has 72% and the NAM Caribou gives G.R. 0.17″ today and the GFS has 0.33″. The European model gives G.R. a similar 0.34″ of rain today (Fri.), with highs of about 79 on Fri., 85 on Sat. and 86 on Sunday.
