Saturday Storms

The Severe Storms on Saturday passed mainly to our south. There was a west to east band of storms with 50-80 mph winds from Eastern Iowa to Northwest Ohio. There was some damage in Berrien County. At the Coast Guard Festival I measured 0.06″. It’ll be breezy today and there is a beach advisory out for 3-7 foot waves on Lake Michigan. Enjoy the cooler and drier air.

Rain (and a few murmurs of thunder) exiting stage East as I write. Mostly rain here, no indications of high winds, etc. in this area (NE IN). I believe the stronger stuff passed to our south (FWA, etc.). Apparently, Aurora,IL (a SW suburb of CHI) got buffeted, along with some addt’l. places (Morris,IL) that got straight-line winds.
I’ve not seen any confirmed reports of tornados, but that front is not done with the US yet!
A big .03″ here in GR! What a soaker.

Hope this WINTER HAS MORE ACTION than last winters bust!! With strengthing ELNINO looks like a boring mild Winter !!!!!!
Not on the long range models.
Also looking at some peoples early release winter outlooks it could be a very interesting Lake effect set up this year with a lot of lake effect snow
so jordan how did those summer long ranges pan?

Hey Bill… I have band camp from 7:45-3:00 and tennis camp from 3:00-7:00 and a party from 7:00-9:00 on Thursday and Friday… But it looks like it could be cold and wet. Do you think it will be a washout or something?becuase I really can’t miss this!
Looks pleasantly cool with a few pop up showers or storms around in the afternoons or evenings. Probably not a wash out.

My uncles shop I am the parts keeper plus I also help with repairing the car I only work there Sunday afternoon Monday morning and all day Wednesday he lets me use my phone when there are no cars to fix

Really? That’s a lot more rain than most received.
Yeah…heavy rain for nearly 30 minutes. Manhole covers “in town” were bubbling water back up through the holes, and around the edges
We got .14″ here. Thought that we would definately get more, but woodtv futurecast only put me at .05-.10″ Amazing how well that futurecast played out. I’m not gonna complain too much though, I have power, got a little rain, and my lawn has come back from the dead. These little accumulations here and there sure have helped. BTW, everybody get outside and enjoy, it’s a BEAUTIFUL day out today!

yes- that was #1 on my fail list of michigan weather so far.
Where is the information coming from saying WINTER 2012-2013 is going to be worse? NWS CLIMATE FORCAST 2012-2013 is showing ABOVE NORMAL TEMPS Thru most of the period AND PRECEIPATION BELOW TO NEAR NORMAL. Last Winter was a BUST !!!!!
The follow excerpt from the Fairbanks, Alaska NWS office is for ice floes approaching Barrow, AK. And we thought it was going to be “cool” tomorrow.
“ICE WILL REACH DOWN THE COAST TO WAINWRIGHT MONDAY. THERE IS A GOOD
CHANCE ICE WILL REACH THE ICY CAPE AREA ON TUESDAY.
ICE IN THIS FLOE WILL CONTAIN FIRST YEAR ICE FROM 4 TO 30 INCHES

Kelly don’t believe the NWS anymore after all the fails I can’t believe you still believe them LOL hopefully we can get more snow but keep the warm temps too:)

Yeah they do save lives but their forecast for severe weather in our area this season has been a complete fail when ever they don’t forecast it we get it and when ever they do we don’t!!!

The (Woodtv) forecast for Sunday shows a low of only 72, other sources are suggesting a cool night of around 55 or so. Not a big deal, but it would be nice for the forecast to be updated.
I see what your talking about. Wood & Fox17 says low of 72, WWMT says lows in the mid 50′s and WZZM13 says low of 53. Weather.com shows a low of 56 overnight. Almost a 20 degree variation in some cases. Wonder which square I shoud put my $$$$$ on.
im not buying into those low 70′s im seeing by next weekend either yet.

Me neither, watch those temperature forecasts climb as we get closer, then it will still get 3-5 degrees warmer than their predictions.

Looks like were finally done with HOT weather
only seeing upper 70′s to mid 80′s this week of course we still got the rest of summer and for all we know it could be a hot fall too. anybody know if we have had hot fall’s before???
Lots of heat out west yet so i wouldnt say the heat is done here. As far as fall its anybodies guess.
I wouldn’t kiss the 90′s goodbye yet. It’s only August 5 and August can be a very hot month here too! 10 years ago when my sister got married at the END of August- it was HOT – i can’t find the exact temperature online- but I know we were outside in the park and ROASTING- it was almost unbearable.

See even bigger cities like Chicago and New York City are getting more severe weather this year than West Michigan what’s up with that
and New York City hardly ever gets severe weather it’s more upstate but this year New York City has been hit 2 times and about to get hit for a 3rd time within the next couple hours!
Between now and halloween im certain we will get a notable event. If not id be shocked.

Not related to Michigan weather, but one person is dead and nine others hurt after lightning hits at the end of the NASCAR race today in Pocono. After seeing the lightning strikes on camera at the end, I can see why.
