Satellite pictures of Tropical Storms and Michigan

Click the picture or click here to enlarge.  The picture shows Isaac on the left side, Hurricane Kirk, center left – Category 1 and Tropical Storm (soon to be hurricane) Leslie, bottom right.   Kirk will eventually head toward Ireland and the United Kingdom as a windy, wet low pressure system.  Leslie could pass east of Maine into the Canadian Maritime Provinces.  On the right we have a MODIS Satellite image centered over Lake Michigan.  Despite the drought, the land is basically green.  You can easily pick out Chicago, Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo – also the sand dunes at Silver Lake, Mason Co. and Sleeping Bear.  Here’s the MODIS picture of Lake Huron, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and Lake Superior (yesterday).

Interesting interactive map of power outages in Louisiana. To say that they are widespread would be an understatement.

I really like the football frenzy that wood tv 8 is doing! I was at the FHN game, and we only won by one point! It was very muggy out until sunset… Then the full blue moon came out along with some Mosquitos. It’s really great weather that we are having, let’s enjoy it while it lasts!

    FYI…

President Obama has ordered the flag of the United States lowered to half-staff until sunset on Friday, August 31, 2012 to honor the memory of Neil Armstrong.

It is 71 degrees today after 103 yesterday here in KC. Winds are gusting to 31 MPH out of the NNE.moderate rain has been falling since 10:45am. Rain totals differ quite a bit over short areas. Overland Park has had 3/4 and KC has had an inch. Further east lots more and a Tornado Watch. It’s just plain nasty here in the Plains. LOL. Looks like the clouds from Isaac are just south of GR now.
