Weekend Sports Thread

Here’s some cool pics. from this year’s major league baseball season.  TIGERS WIN 3-1!   In the NCAA, Michigan St. spotted Indiana a 17-point lead, then rallied to win 31-27.  Massachusetts got thumped by Western in Kalamazoo, 52-14.  Central had a 21-10 lead on Toledo, but wound up losing a shootout 50-35.  My wife’s alma mater (Illinois) was crushed by my alma mater (Wisconsin) 31-14.    Michigan had no problem with Purdue, 44-14.  Ferris St. came from behind to top Grand Valley.  Hope was a winner 24-14 over Olivet.  Notre Dame  stomped Miami.

It’s also a big weekend here with the Red Flannel festival in Cedar Springs, the Harvest Festival in Rockford, Pulaski Days here in G.R. and Pumpkinfest in Zeeland.  The weather will be a bit on the chilly side with a chance of a passing sprinkle (just a chance).

Another GREAT Weekend for Michigan sports! Teams in action, Tigers vs the As in game #1 of the ALDS. I say, Tigers win this one with Verlander on the mound! Does he get yanked in the 7 if he is still wheeling and dealing? Our bullpen is not great. They need to be solid defensively! GO TIGERS!
The Spartans will win big! They outscore Indiana by at least 2 touchdowns! 31-10 for the score of that game! Michigan is traveling to Purdue for their game. I say, Michigan wins in a “squeaker” 24-21 something like that! GO BLUE!

Question is, can JV exorcise his postseason demons and pitch well. For the Tigers to win, he has to turn around his fortunes in the playoffs. If he can do so, the Tigers should win win this game. Oakland is real good despite having a young team, so I have a lot of respect for them.

MSU should handle Indiana. UM-Purdue is a toss up. I hope UM wins but this game, all depends on which DRob shows up.

Beautiful day up here in the Marquette area with the snow falling and all the colorful leaves changing, it just looks like a late October day. Lets go teams!

Great night in Detroit last night. First playoff game we’ve been to. Weather was chilly, but somehow seemed to help enhance the playoff atmosphere. Still need to win today to be in control of the series.

As a side note, A’s put on quite a show in batting practice last night. Many balls up into the bleachers in right, one bounced off a statue above the bricks out in left center.

Sweet Victory for Ferris handing Grand Valley a good ol’whipping on the football field, your biggest rival. And its time to Grand Valley to GROW UP and get a division 1 sport like Ferris has had in Hockey for 35 years. Yes we get to play Michigan, MSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Minnesota, Boston College etc etc etc….not to mention the Western MI and Bowling Greens of the world. Being competitive in Division 2 sports??? no one really cares, D-1 is where its at !!! I just wish you had a hockey team so we could beat up on you like we do the Bigger Schools !!!

Says the guy happy that GVSU’s 64 year winning streak against Ferris is over.
