Weds. Night
12:30 AM Weds. TIGERS LOST!!! 4-3. I can’t believe it! Coco Crisp again, with 2 outs in the ninth. Bullpen, we need ya. Deer on the snowman cam in Gaylord right now. NWS reports half an inch of snow in Gaylord. My wife called late this morning She was SE of Kingsley on her way to Traverse City and she said it was snowing there. At this hour, it’s snowing in Gaylord and Grayling with flurries in Traverse City. She said the fall colors are spectacular and right at peak between Newaygo Co. and Traverse City. Sleet was reported at Dutton and Charlotte. Check the satellite loop and you’ll see the extent of the lake-effect clouds. The Lake Michigan water temperature is 59. The temperature of the air about a mile above the ground is in the low 20s (F). That’s quite a contrast. As drier air comes in, the flow becomes more anti-cyclonic and the temperature aloft starts to warm…the low clouds will eventually dissipate overnight. The Northern Lights have been visible he past two nights (unfortunately we were cloudy) and we’ll continue to track that tonight, but a third night is unlikely at this point. It still looks windy for tomorrow with a slight chance of a PM shower north of I-96…fairly calm on Friday with a chance of AM frost…and we continue to pay attention to the weekend storm…which could bring very windy conditions Saturday night into Sunday AM. (picture is fall colors in Eaton Co. from Larry on ReportIt).
Here’s North American snow cover. There’s still some snow on the ground from NW Minnesota (where they had up to 14″) up into Ontario from last week’s storm.
tad bit november like out today bill. can we get some warmth back please?
I concur fissster. However, Bill can change the weather like the mail man can bring you a million dollar check.
He knows im joking.
Just had some graupel near the lakeshore.
YAY finally got to see my first snow flakes of the season snowing in Muskegon right now and it is not SLEET they are clearly snowflakes
WOW I was in Muskegon at the right time
you guys missed out they were pretty big snowflakes now I can say I have seen my First snowflakes of the season
Yes, the RAP model is pegging the freezing level down to about 3100 feet right now, and there is a very tiny amount of instability in the cloud layer to allow for graupel formation. I can believe some snowflakes are making it to the ground, along with graupel (not sleet).
just smaller than pea size sleet, rained (only way to describe it) down hard for 5 min in Williamston, MI at 130pm. Didn’t cover the grass, but smaller clumps near the grass line and cement still around an hour later.
Ada – 3/10 of an inch of rain overnight…slowly but surely
Yup, Jordan! I am seeing snowflakes and sleet in the Muskegon area too!
Snow,Snow, Go Away, Come Again, Only on Christmas Day !
Just walked outside to tend to my flock and low and behold small snow flakes!!
YEP snowing little pellets here at 10 mile near Rockford..the deck is covered in them. Too soon I say!!
Just got a light snow flurry in Byron Center along with some sleet!!!!
I’m in Kalamazoo for work and I’ve missed the snowflakes! My wife said she saw some flakes a little while ago…hope a few of them hang around until I get home.
Nice Day………For a NAP. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..Just Sayin….
I wish I could nap but you know mid-terms and all
For our insinty let’s hope that this happens
MUCH OF THE WEEKEND LOOKS BREEZY AND POTENTIALLY STORMY. WE/RE
WATCHING A UPPER LOW OVER CALIFORNIA WHICH IS GENERATING CONVECTION
OVER CALIFORNIA THIS MORNING. AS THE LOW EJECTS FROM THE SOUTHWEST
AND MOVES OVER THE ROCKIES…A LEE SIDE LOW WILL DEVELOP AND
STRENGTHEN AS IT MOVES TOWARD THE GREAT LAKES. ECMWF/GFS HAVE BEEN
CONSISTENT IN LIFTING A WARM FRONT NWD SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THERE IS
A HELICITY BULLSEYE OVER THE CWA AROUND 18Z SATURDAY. HODOGRAPHS ARE
VERY LARGE. HOWEVER INSTABILITY IS NOT THAT IMPRESSIVE AND THE
STRONGEST INSTABILITY WILL STILL BE WEST OF THE CWA. MID DAY
SATURDAY THE LOW LOOKS TO BE OVER WRN IOWA WITH THE TRAILING COLD
FRONT SW OF THE LOW INTO ERN KANSAS. THUS THE SEVERE POTENTIAL
SHOULD BE WELL WEST OF THE CWA SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THAT IS IF WE
DON/T GET SUBSTANTIAL DEVELOPMENT ALONG THE WARM FRONT.
SHOWERS/STORMS WILL LIKELY MOVE OVER THE CWA SATURDAY EVENING/EARLY
SUNDAY AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT. A 70 KT LLJ IS STILL PROGD OVER THE
SRN CWA. ANY CONVECTION THAT CAN TAP INTO THAT WIND COULD
POTENTIALLY PRODUCE STRONG WINDS AT THE SFC. MOISTURE WON/T BE
LACKING AS PWATS WILL BE CLOSE TO 1.6 INCHES. PCPN WILL DIMINISH
LATER SUNDAY AS THE UPPER LOW MOVES BY.
So what will be the wind speed on Saturday then?
I have been hearing 40-70MPH is that true?
I’m not totally sure but I do know Saturday afternoon could be very intersting depending on the devlopent of the Warm front convection, and how the LLJ plays out
Sorry for all the questions lol but why could it be interesting?
If the LLJ can make it hear with it’s 70 kts and the warm front is passing through that would bring a higher potential for severe weather
OK thank you
We should all know by now how this will all pan out, just like every other “Potential” for severe weather. I’d love it but not banking on it.
Think closer to 40 than 70. 70 mph would be located well above ground level. And depending on the strength/location of the low pressure system as it passes though, I’m not even sure about 40.
Thank you Cort
I just don’t want to lose power that all lol I wouldn’t mind the rain because we still need some from this summers drought!
Do i smell another fail?
my super duper fixxxer senses say so!
Well they aren’t calling for severe weather here, but the models are forecasting significant severe weather in the Plains states this weekend.
This is why the wife and i are going to hawaii this winter. Im excited!
Is there a government vacation program for the unemployed that I don’t know about?
Lol mike you know nothing about my finincial situation or employment status other than what i told you on the “internet”. so quit attempting to troll becuase you really bad at it. Your better off posting your buddy joe b’s forecasts on here so i can have a good laugh. No mike were actually gonna be quite comfotable for awhile. No unemployment, no comp.
Must have called 1-800-CallSam.
Hawaii sounds fun to go to in the winter enjoy
Should be fun.
Hawaii sounds horrible to me. Sunny and 85 to 90 degrees all of the time. Sounds dreadful and boring – give me SNOW and COLD over Hawaii any day! The more the better!
It would be a nice getaway for a week but I agree with you I would not want to live there year round BRING ON THE SNOW!
I lived in Florida for 3 years. What I missed most of all was SEASONS. Life was incredibly dull in a lot of ways, except for the occasional hurricane.
Summer was the sh–. Mother Michigan is coming back from Iceland. Welcome back baby girl.
OT does anyone know or heard rather this is true or not that Adam Sandlers died today in a snowboarding accident??? I haven’t heard it or read it on any news channels or websites but this one.

Yep. I thought we had the game. That’s how it goes. What did Ernie say? We get another chance to get out and play again tomorrow and win. Something like that. The Tigers can do it! 35.2° here now.
