Storm over the Flat River – from Amy Stewart Riddle on my facebook page.   Check out this video of a waterspout on Lake Volkening in Schaumburg, IL Sunday PM.  This is just northwest of O’Hare Airport.  A possible tornado hit Roselle (just southwest of Schaumburg, where trees were toppled and there was roof damage.  Schaumburg reported wind damage and 1″ diameter hail.  A waterspout was reported off Montrose Harbor.   A ship just northeast of Wilmette reported steady winds of 65 mph with a peak gust of 80 mph.  Winds were clocked at 60 mph in Peotone and 54 mph at the Harrison Crib east of downtown Chicago.  Hail also fell at Oak Forest, Morton Grove and Tinley Park.  Winds were clocked at 62 mph on the beach at Michigan City IN, 56 mph at Indianapolis, and 48 mph at the beach at S. Haven, Muskegon and Big Sable Point.  Gusts reached 46 mph in Allendale and 45 mph in Hudsonville.  There were at least 1500 customers without power in our area.  We had video of a tree toppled in G.R. and there was a tree blocking Washington St. near Sunfield.

Had one distant rumble of thunder today and a couple of mild gusts.
Non-event for my neighborhood (and I’m fine with that).

What a great day Sunday was. The warm winds, the clouds, heavy rain and lightning. I love fall days like that!

  3. GunLakeDeb says:

I had 1.6″ of rain for Sat/Sun – a few rumbles of thunder; and a nice SUNNY break Sunday afternoon that let us get some outside chores done at my daughter’s house. Not bad at all, compared to what others got.

Looks like the GR area has a rather good coverage of rain as both the airport and myself ended had 2.32″ of rain for the weekend event. Right now its very cloudy and 48° here in my neck of the woods.
