Barely over 1″ of snow for the next 5 days I’m loving that! Every day that passes is another day closer to spring and WARMER weather!

  2. Scott (west olive) says:

After the 500 Sunday I’ll go on the fixxer plan and fire up the outdoor furnace.

  3. Rocky (Rockford) says:

    >>>>NEWS FLASH>>>> It has been SNOWING out all night and it is 22 degrees! It is still winter people and we are having another GREAT winter night and there are no signs of 40 degrees temperatures for at least the next two straight weeks! I love it!!!! We are in COLD and SNOWY pattern. Get used to it!

  4. Rocky (Rockford) says:

    >>>>>NEWS FLASH>>>> the latest NAM model shows GR picking up 4 to 5 inches of SNOW over the next three days!! Bring it! The more SNOW the better!

  5. Brad says:

I have a hunch that I am the only non-white person who posts here. Are there any other minorities on Bill’s blog?

    1. Bill Steffen says:

      1) Prove that you are non-white. 2) Why do you wish to categorize people by race when it is of no consequence? 3)The answer to your question is ‘Yes’.

      1. Brad says:

Bill, I am merely interested in whether your readership reflects the multicultural country we live in.

        1. Bill Steffen says:

Does the NBA? Is the pro-life position represented adequately in the mainstream media? How about the cultural make-up of your spouses? I’m merely interested…

        2. Bill Steffen says:

My thread on the Meteor got over 25,000 hits in 24-hours…and many of those came from overseas.

        3. Brad says:

Aha, so you admit a certain segment of the population is overrepresented here. There is a lot of latent racism on this forum that we need to bring to light.

        4. Stacsh says:

Bill your comment about the nba is ridiculous.

        5. Brad says:

Bill, I think INDY was 24,000 of those hits. I’m talking the blogger community. I have a sneaking suspicion I am the only person of my race on here.

        6. Nathan (Forest Hills) says:

25000 views?? I had no idea your blog was so popular, people should start commenting more!

        7. Bill Steffen says:

The blog thread “Light Pillars” had 40,403 hits in 24-hours on Jan. 22 including quite a few hits from Scandinavia. I’ve had comments on the blog from every continent (inc. one from Antarctica) and from dozens and dozens of different countries.

Brad, provide proof of your racial background.

        8. Brad says:

Bill, do you want my DNA? A skin sample? Where should I send it?

        9. Brad says:

Money? LOL. You’re making upwards of $250K/year, not including think tank money…

        10. Bill Steffen says:

Prove that I make $250K! LOL!! Who do you think I am? A school superintendent?

        11. Katie in Kentwood says:

          Whoa….this escalated quickly.

        12. INDY says:

        13. Rumrunner says:

Ill play. My proof would be my FB page. Darren Dibble. White as rice. But I do all kinds of things that other races do…

        14. Yup (Grandville) says:

Wow…. you, sir, are a piece of work. And I don’t mean that in a good way.

      2. Dan S. says:

I am a white male…which makes me the least cared about race and sex these days. …just sayin.

    2. SW Kent says:

I am a white, dutch conservative and in this country, I am a minority.

      1. Jack says:

        Ain’t That The , TRUTH !,, !!!!!!! SW Kent.. ;-)

      2. Brad says:

Interesting Bill did not ask you to prove you are white. Is he a racist?

        1. Bill Steffen says:

          I trust him. I don’t trust you.

        2. GunLakeDeb says:

The only person who’s making a racial issue is YOU. 99% of us are interested in weather and gender/creed/race or whatever has nothing to do with it.

        3. Brad says:

Deb, I am not making race an “issue.” I merely asked a question. No need for the vitriol here.

        4. Robert (Plainwell) says:

Brad what does this have to do with weather?

        5. Brad says:

It has to do with the blog. I asked a simple question. The topic of race does seem to startle the sensitized.

        6. Bill Steffen says:

          What’s your race, “Brad”?

        7. Kimoeagle says:

Hey Brad, who cares? You are the only one who cares, it seems. For the record, I am a green-haired, cross-eyed purple people-eater, and I defy classification of race.
I think that you are trying to make something out of nothing here, and your commentaries reflect either a) innocent ignorance, or b) a clumsy attempt to create problems. Since this blog — last time I heard – is predominately a weather blog, I suggest you seek your answers in one of the other blogs that deal with sociological categorization.

        8. Brad says:

Why does inquiry strike such fear in your heart?

        9. Bill Steffen says:

          So…Brad, what is your race?

        10. Kimoeagle says:

Since I am a purple people-eater, I am UNAFRAID,Brad!!! Why? Do you have something against purple people-eaters? We’re a race, you know, and we’re “non-white”, —— but nobody ever asked what my race was until you brought up the issue. Sounds like you’re racist against purple people-eaters!!! Snort.

        11. Irish coffee says:

1)Bill has shown NO history of racism/discriminatory policies wrt to his blog…..
2)Censorship/discrimination in recent times seems to center attention/focus on Christ/Christians—For example, a few years back a student found a peaceful pose/picture depicting Jesus hanging in the hall @ Bloomingdale High repugnant and ordered it removed(which it was)..a case of appeasing the desires of 1 and overlooking the desires of the other 500 to have it remain.Meanwhile artist(loosely)Maplethorpe can use my/our tax $$$ to affix a crucifix inside a urinal mocking Christ, call it “ART” display it in PUBLIC museum’s/galleries and stand on principle protection of ‘free’ artistic EXPRESSION whether it offends 100% pop. or not. So in one instance, ACLU is all over separation clause for innocuous pic….while defending tax $ and PUBLIC display for so-called ‘art’ defacing the honor of Jesus?! Christians just need to get MORE creative– like using artistic FREE EXPRESSION to defend right to display Nativity scenes, Ten Commandments, etc in public…Maplethorpe gets a pass to desecrate religious symbols/personae; so should Christians wishing to exalt said entities via spiritual expression.

        12. Irish coffee says:

ps- Last i checked we are ALL members of the same RACE-see:HUMAN!

        13. GunLakeDeb says:

The only reason “race” startles us is because it has NOTHING to do with weather. If you are feeling “under-represented”, it’s probably because the vast majority of people don’t come here with the express purpose of being a PITA.

    3. suehelen says:

      Does it matter??

  6. Mike Geukes says:

Bill, anybody from your station going to the SKYWARN meeting tomorrow night in Grandville

      1. Mike Geukes says:

Will you be there Bill this year, just wondering who will there this year.

        1. Bill Steffen says:

I’m signed up for it and plan on going…though I may be a few minutes late. Kyle will be there.

  7. Travis Ulberg (West of Martin, Allegan County) says:

Look at this picture of how high the snow is in Munising! Just incredible!

On a side note, we just got home from snowmobiling, and the fields are so icy it seems/looks like we are snowmobiling over a frozen lake! I’ve never snowmobiled on such icy conditions, every dirt road is very icy as well. There was a lot of snow in the wooded state game area between Allegan and Fennville.

    1. GunLakeDeb says:

Do you have a studded track? I’ve heard it’s easy to slide out without studs? (I’m STILL being held captive by that asphalt parking lot – although the trails look pretty rough over here)

      1. Travis Ulberg (West of Martin, Allegan County) says:

Nope, no studs. It is pretty easy to slide w/out studs, but right now it’s basically like driving over a lake when it’s glossy ice. And the trails were pretty thin in the fields by our house, but there was probably 8-12″ in the wooded areas. I wouldn’t even attempt to go east of my house, it would definitely be too thin and rough.

    2. Michael (Berrien county) says:

That’s what happens when it starts piling up in November & never melts or stops until April. Unlike here where it starts to pile up…. then melts…. then starts to pile up again…. then more melting…. then more snow…. then another thaw…. & so on & so on.

      1. Travis Ulberg (West of Martin, Allegan County) says:

Actually they had very little snow through early January like we did, and have been getting bombed since mid January like we have. But they haven’t had a warmup, so it just keeps piling up. But I agree 100% with what you said.

    3. GunLakeDeb says:

When I was a kid (shortly after all the dinosaurs died) – it was MANDATORY in Cadillac, MI to have some sort of doodad (usually orange foam balls) on your radio antenna, to alert drivers that a car was waiting to pull into the road because the snowbanks obscured your view!

  8. Travis Ulberg (West of Martin, Allegan County) says:

Here’s another insane snow picture from Paradise! Up to 12′ drifts along the snowmobile trail!

    1. GunLakeDeb says:

I have a kayaking friend in Paradise – I think I need to go visiting ;-) and bring my sled along!

  9. Matt (Spring Lake) says:

Brad, it takes a racist to claim “racism”. Stop trying to cause trouble on this blog.

I am Irish on both sides. UH OH, others are racist towards me….back in the early 1900s……..

    1. Brad says:

LOL, no it doesn’t. C’mon, mang.

    2. Irish coffee says:

I hear ye Matt!…I almost bought a sign at Irish-Fest in Kazoo reminiscing early 1900′s & soliciting employment opprtunity w/ “Irish need NOT apply!” ;) <methinks it was not circa a Boston "pub"! I often get a kick out of how 'selective' race-baiting becomes at times…usually we hear about 1'st Asian senator…or 1'st black pres…hispanic, etc…yet RARELY is there a push for 1'st(or appropriate ratio) Native American football coach, congressman,CEO,etc!

  10. Undy says:

Just curious Bill, according to Indy this is a blog for west siders only. Is that true? He seems to speak for everyone on this blog. If this site is for the west side of the state I’ll look for an eastside blog. Thanks. Classical music forever. Undyy!!!!

    1. Yup (Grandville) says:

      Don’t be ridiculous…

    1. Kimoeagle says:

Are you getting testy because I insinuated that YOU might be racist, Brad? Or mayhaps someone trying to create problems? Oops.Snort. Sorry. I have to snort once in a while or my nostril fire goes out.

    2. bobcat says:

      Fool. Do something important.

    3. Kimoeagle says:

Hi Brad. In case you think that I am a figment of someone’s imagination, let me disabuse you of that assumption. I am well known, enough so that they composed a song about me. Snort.
Since I shun notoriety, I have assumed a human name for the last 147 years. Lately, it has not been easy, for my claws tear up a lot of good keyboards altogether too quickly. Am thinking of training my tail — you know, one-appendage typing???? Snort. Boy, this wind is really causing – snort – problems with my nostril fire!!! Snort, snort, snort. Maybe I should go in for some plastic surgery and get a piezoelectric starter installed. Sort of expensive, tho. Maybe I could get a minority grant? Whadda ya think? ;-)

      1. Kimoeagle says:

        Brad? You there? ……………snort ………….. snort…………….

      2. Brad says:

Well, that’s a new one to me. Thanks!

        1. Jeff(Northern Ionia County / Muir) says:

Way to ruin the blog today Brad!!! I love getting on here to read about the weather and see whats coming the next few day. But everyonce in a while someone like you psots something stupid and ruins for the rest of us. Please leave the blogging to weather and weather related events. Thanks

  11. Undy says:

Maybe it’s just me but it seems like this blog has been hijacked by a bunch of junior high school kids. There used to be several knowledgeable people on this site but now it’s only Cort. Now it’s only people talking about about made up crap. The rdb and Jem models for example. Grow up. Knock off with the hype and have intelligent weather related conversations. Enough with the you tube and cued crap. There are people on this blog who want to learn and talk about real weather not non existent blizzards and the references to smoking the ganja and drinking sprites. Grow up and respect Bill and the blog. Undyy cwyat do you think Uncle Spunkee?

    1. Undy says:

Should be, what do you think Uncle Sparkee? Sorry for the typo.

    2. Jack says:

      Hey! UNDY !!! CUE….U ! Get it IDIOT !

    3. suehelen says:

Just do what most of us do and skip over the stupidity. There are still several good, knowledgeable posters that are fun to read. I’ve learned so much since I started reading this blog!

  12. Kimoeagle says:

Am arriving late into the discussion, but it appears that those of us in the SW MI/northern IN area will be “dodging” this storm (sort of)> Down here in NE IN they are forecasting 1-2″, GRR 1-3″ ?? and KS,IL,IA getting 8-18″??????? Not that I mind, but with all the talk about this “huge storm” on the Weather Channel”, one has to wonder….on the other hand, our friends at the Soo just got another 14″ over the past two days…. any comments or elucidation?

  13. Uncle Spunkee says:

Hey there Undy. Your aunt Edie and I spent all day doing chores together as it should be Then we made some hot chocolate and drank it nice and slow. Tomorrow I will once again help your aunt Edie with her chores because I’m not an arse like some people on this blog. Bill, sorry about some people making a joke of your blog. Some of us want to actually talk about real weather what do you think Uncle Jock?

  14. Uncle Jock says:

The ujm model predicts a thunderstorm by the end of June. Stay tuned.

  15. Undy says:

Interesting. I post several comments where I don’t trash anyone or promote smoking weed and drinking and my comments get deleted.

    1. Jack says:

U are Full of SHIT . Change your UNDY (pun intended)…. IDIOT !

  16. Larry from Hastings/Barry Co says:

Bill, I don’t understand why some people have to cause troble here on this blog. I been on this blog for about 4 years, I haven’t read statesments from anyone about race issues. The weather effects people of all races all around the world. Good night everyone, I will be counting white and black sheep in my dreams.

    1. Larry from Hastings/Barry Co says:

On the first line of my comment, I spell a word wrong…it should have been trouble instead troble. I have had a very long day, can’t keep my eyes open much longer. Sleep good everyone.

    2. Kimoeagle says:

Don’t forget purple ones, too, Larry. ;-)

  17. TomKap (Michigan St. & Fuller) Grand Rapids says:

Anyone else here feel like I do regarding this ‘monster storm’ over Kansas etc.
To me, for the last few hours, it just doesn’t seem to be all that ‘organized’.

    1. TomKap (Michigan St. & Fuller) Grand Rapids says:

      whoa. ‘now’ it’s getting interesting….

      1. Kimoeagle says:

Dunno, Tom, but am wondering if it has gotten too ponderous for the steering winds (jetstream) to move it along very quickly. From what I can assume, the storm is NOT moving quickly, thereby dumping copious amounts of snow on KS,MO and NE so far.
It looks as if both SW MI and NE IN will be getting the wet side of the front, i.e., freezing rain and rain, with very little snow. That’s OK by me….. am not anxious to shovel again for a while……;-)

        1. GunLakeDeb says:

What DOES have to be shoveled will be like cement :-( Tomorrow is just going to KILL the remaining snow we have around here, what with being more in the “drizzle zone” :-( Rats.

  18. Yup (Grandville) says:

I find it funny that I have an advisory for 1 to two inches of snow tomorrow morning. I better stay home in my jammies!

  19. Clarence says:

I feared this would be true. I am okay, however, that this blog is for the whites. We can still read for weather.
