Severe Storms in China, 24 fatalities
Severe thunderstorms moved across SE China Wednesday. The storms were most severe near Guangdong Province. At least 24 fatalities were reported and 4 others were missing. Hundreds were injured by the storms. Egg-sized hail was reported with the storms along with severe thunderstorm winds and at least one “super tornado”. A ferry capsized at Nanping. 2,000 structures were said to have collapsed and 248,000 were damaged. Economic loss is said to be over 200 million dollars. One wind gust was measured at Force 14 (109 mph). Video here has a little of the storm about 1:26 in.
