Great spring skiing right now. Ski Brule in the U.P. reports a 54-72″ base. It’s been cold enough that conditions are almost mid-winter good. Check out the 360-degree web cam they have. Nub’s Nob will be open this weekend. All 53 slopes and trails are open there. They’ve had 121″ of snow this winter. Boyne Mt. has a 42-62″ base with 5 of 12 lifts open and most trails open. They report very good conditions at Crystal Mt. (nice pic. at link) with a base of up to 65″. Caberfae is closed mid-week, but will be open this Saturday and Sunday. They have a base of over 50″ and report a season snowfall of 143.5″. Pine Mt., near Iron Mt., is open with a 24-36″ base. Mt. Bohemia in the Keweenaw has 85 of 85 runs open and they report 6″ of snow in the last 48 hours and 260″ of snowfall for the season. It looks like mid-winter up there! Treetops will be open this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Look at the deal they have for this weekend: “Anyone who shows us their season ski pass from any other ski area in Michigan is welcome to ski FREE at Treetops for the rest of the season. Just show us your pass in Skier Services!” Blackjack will be open this weekend with a 72″ base. They’ve had 222″ of snow this season! Marquette Mt. is open daily with a 40-48″ base and 3″ of new snow.
Tues. AM snow cover reports: 44″ Big Bay, 42″ S. Grand Marais, 35″ Marquette Co. Airport, 29″ Munising, Champion, 28″ Calumet and Twin Lakes, 27″ Newberry, 20″ S. Ste. Marie. Champion was 7 below zero Tues. AM, Marquette dropped to +2. In Lower Michigan: 10″ Kalkaska, 6″ Gaylord (11″ in the woods), 4″ Houghton Lake, 3″ Cadillac, 2″ Traverse City (Munson Arpt.), 1″ Alpena.
