crocus from kris at report it   Here’s a nice picture from Kris at ReportIt.  See it full screen here.   This will be the last dry daytime for awhile…so enjoy.  The wind was howling overnight, gusts to +40 mph in places, but while it will be breezy today, it won’t be that windy.  Temperatures in most areas will be in the low-mid 50s (a bit cooler at Lake Michigan).  Rain moves in Monday AM from south to north.  The European gives G.R. 2.77″ of rain this week and the possiblity of a t-storm or two (not severe).  The warm air will come closest on Tues., with it could reach 60 in G.R. and upper 60s at the Indiana border…but it’s relatively chilly after that.  We still have not reached 60 in G. R. this year. (59 Saturday evening).    Also, hail and 50+ mph winds with thunderstorms in the Chicago area Sat. evening.

  1. Paul (Barry State Game Area /Yankee Springs) says:

Guess we could use the the rain. Managed a little over night, but the burn ban is still on down here in the woods, very dry with lots of grass fires in the area yesterday……maybe after this week we’ll have some warm spring temps…
    Have a great Sunday all…..

  2. Nathan says:

Bill, is it a positive thing that Wednesday will be 60 or aren’t the models in agreement yet? With the warmer air and rain showers, the grass and buds may pop out!

  3. DF (SE Mich) says:

Too bad the mild air may come on such rainy days… Looks cold later in the week.

  4. Brad (Lawrence) says:

Wood says 60 on Wednesday, the other station still says 70. I would be willing to split hairs and call it 65 :)

    1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

It will barely get above 50 degrees on Wednesday! FOX 17 is living in fantasy land!

      1. kalamazooguy says:

So many different models out there. The National Weather Service has raised our highs to just above 60. They say they’re watching where the front stalls because that may cause them to raise them even higher, possibly around 70. They also say if it stalls farther north with the dynamics, then we could be looking at Severe Weather.

Down here we’ll be warmer. Up there…maybe not.

        1. Nathan says:

I thought they were favoring the GFS… Unless the GFS trended warmer?

  5. Rocky (Rockford) says:

NW Lower MI is looking at another 6-12 inches of SNOW next week! Amazing!

  6. Nathan says:

Looks like a nice flow from the south with warmer temperatures this Monday-Wednesday. And with the jet stream stalled near/over our area, lots of rain can be expected. Unfortunately, the forecast looks very tricky with the temperature split over our area. Area north could see cold and sleet while the border may see highs near 70! Maybe some stronger thunderstorms will reach the southern counties, that’s something to look forward to.
Anyways, the forecast looks awfully tricky as it is still unknown where the jet stalls out. Looking at other stations, Fox says 70 while TWC says 53!!

    1. Nathan says:

Now the NWS says 48 on Weds!!

      1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

That sounds about right with a possible rain, SNOW, sleet mix for GR on Wednesday night!!! Get ready GR!

        1. fixxxer says:

its not going to snow with temps near 50 jackass.

        2. Nathan says:

Fixxxer he is referring to Wednesday night. But I wouldn’t count on that much… If any. You should head up north Rocky, I heard that the UP just got another snowstorm!! My teacher visits his parents up there and hunts every spring break and he said April is like mid-winter for them!

        3. kalamazooguy says:

Might want to double check the forecast Fixxxer. Most forecasts are calling for rain/snow/sleet for Wednesday Night and Thursday for you all up there. It won’t accumulate or anything more than likely.

If the front moves farther north, then you all will be fine.

        4. fixxxer says:

you guys know better than to trust anything over 3 days out.

        5. Rocky (Rockford) says:

fixxxer continues to show his immaturity and ignorance with his consistent name calling! Very classless and worthless comments are still spewing form fixxxer! Go hibernate till summer fixxxer and then you can come back and complain about everything from not enough sun, not warm enough, to windy, to cloudy, etc, etc, etc!!!!!

        6. Rocky (Rockford) says:

As usual fixxxer has no idea what he is talking about! Get used to it!

        7. fixxxer says:

and as usual your attempt at trolling fails rj.

        8. Rocky (Rockford) says:

As usual your comments continue to get more and more ignorant every single day! Get a life!

  7. Travis (Oakland County) says:

Currently 58 degrees in Detroit. Wind gust of 53mph over here this morning! Now we just have to get these clouds out of here. Pretty mild the next couple days.

    Go Blue!!

    1. Mark (East Lansing) says:

We had 58 at 4am. The wind is more NW now and it’s cooled off a bit. Looks like Detroit has cooled off as well.

  8. hsoJ in Zeeland says:

im ready for the warmth of the summer. global warming here we come!

    1. fixxxer says:

i wouldn’t count on much in the way of heat this year unless something changes in the next 90 days or so. remember last years heatwave was a once in a lifetime deal.

      1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

        Brilliant and profound comments :)

      2. hsoJ in Zeeland says:

it still will get up to 90 during the summer, it always has and it probably always will.

        1. fixxxer says:

not every summer has reached the 90′s.

      3. Cort S. says:

The summer heat was about a once-in-25-year type of deal. The March heatwave was unprecedented. The good news is, fixx, if this summer is cooler than last year, it may help favor more severe weather, because we won’t be under the “Death Ridge” of high pressure caused by the hot temperatures.

        1. Swatz_Zoo(Cedar Springs) says:

That death ridge totally SUCKED last year!! I’m so hoping to put my camera in more use this year for storms.

        2. fixxxer says:

Meh id rather have sun and heat than the storms.

        3. hsoJ in Zeeland says:

no way storms are so much better
we might have a hurricane or a tsunami here!

  9. SlimJim NW GR (1) says:

While the temp did get up to 59° here yesterday (it was in the upper 50′s in the afternoon) with the clouds and wind it did not feel like it was that warm. In fact it felt down right cool in the wind. Today its now cloudy here now and the temp is only 42°. We will have to see if we (GR) can break the 60° mark on Tuesday if not we will go even deeper into April not reaching that mark. As it stands right now its the latest in the year without reaching 60° since 2002 when GR first reached 60 on April 10th. So if we make it past Wednesday (an if right now) will have to look to see if I can find the next latest first 60° day for a year.
    SlimJim

    1. fixxxer says:

its ok slim you can just say you think this year will be n the cool side. i think bills been implying it as well.

  10. fixxxer says:

i think it will be one of these years where the heat is locked just south of michigan. the rest of this month, temp wise looks below average at best.

    1. Nathan says:

No, give the NAO time to turn positive… And the annoying jet stream to move north! That annoying blocking high is ruining it all :p

      1. fixxxer says:

i understand that. i posted a story about it yesterday. until it moves back north were stuck in this cold pattern.

    2. kalamazooguy says:

I disagree. I think this summer will be warmer than average but wetter than average. Last years summer was horrible without any rain.

      1. fixxxer says:

i don’t want a real dreary, rainy summer either. we have spring and the fall for that. charles did say on his storm page he thinks it will be a more active severe weather season.

        1. kalamazooguy says:

I agree there too. The heat and the moisture will cause that. I don’t think it’s going to be rainy and dreary, but warm and active.

        2. Swatz_Zoo(Cedar Springs) says:

Maybe it will be more active in the SW/SE area of Michigan and once again we’ll be left out on the fun action.

        3. Nathan says:

If you listen to Bill, then expect more derecho type events.

        4. fixxxer says:

nathan i wouldn’t buy into any of that just yet. we do this every year at this time. the bottom line is not one person knows what it will do even 3 days out.

  11. Rocky (Rockford) says:

It makes no difference what the actual weather is – fixxxer will find a way to complain and whine about it! Ridiculousness at its worst!!

    1. fixxxer says:

well at least you learned that.

      1. GB says:

Fixxer please do not comment on anything the above individual says he/she is obviously very lonely and lives for people reacting to them. Please see the link for mor information. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acting_out
The best course of action is to just ignore he/she and they will go away.

In weather news the rain this week will get rid of the last of the dirt snow piles so that iss good news. The coolish air looks like it will hang air will hang around for the next week or so but the fact is all around the yard things are springing to life.
I would bet on splitting the difference between fox17 and wood8 I find that picking in the middle of those two is almos always a good bet.

        1. fixxxer says:

thats why i think he or she is jordan.

        2. Cort S. says:

Jordan and Rocky have two completely different sets of mannerisms and grammar and syntax styles. We’ve talked about this a couple days ago.

      2. Rocky (Rockford) says:

Another one of fixxxer’s alter egos at work! Very interesting and ignorant!

        1. fixxxer says:

yup you all have been had. everybody on here including bill is one of my alter ego’s at work. just how old are you kid?

  12. bnoppe(Albion) says:

WED looks like it could be good especially south of 96

SURFACE BASED INSTABILITY TRIES TO MOVE INTO THE AREA
SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 96 WEDNESDAY. THAT ALONG WITH STRONGER DEEP
LAYER SHOULD COULD LEAD TO SEVERE WEATHER. WILL NEED TO MONITOR
    THIS CLOSELY.

  13. fixxxer says:

    more winds and clouds today…typical.

    1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

Typical that you would be complaining and whining about the weather!!

  14. Rocky (Rockford) says:

I just checked the FOX 17 web site and their forecast high temperatures for next week are even more ridiculous that fixxxer’s immature and ignorant comments about the weather! Everyone of their forecast high temperatures will end up being wrong. They will range from 5 to 20 degrees too high per day! Blatant warm weather bias at work!

    1. kalamazooguy says:

The NWS is even saying that the temperatures may approach 70. FOX’s forecast posts the “highest temp” for the region. Say Battle Creek or Kalamazoo gets to 70, then their forecast is right. A TV station can’t specifically say what it will be in one location (i.e your backyard). There is an entire section of the state to cover.

    2. fixxxer says:

my comments are immature? your joking right? i can see it now. it will be july and in the 80′s and you will be on here preaching about snow and cold. go pop some pills rj or whoever you are.

    3. Rocky (Rockford) says:

Fox has forecast 70 degrees for GR on Wednesday and this will is ridiculous!

      1. fixxxer says:

Suck it up princess and get your “golf clubs” ready.

  15. Fixxxerswrist says:

frankly I need a break from this crappy weather, I think im gonna crack if we don’t get sun and 70s soon.

    1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

LOL, however fixxxer will still be complaining if the temps are in the 70′s. That won’t high enough for him and if there is a little wind he will be complaining about that as well!!!

    2. fixxxer says:

funny because my wrist got better once i got my settlement. it’s a miracle!

      1. michael g (SE GR) says:

        Loser.

        1. michael g (SE GR) says:

Correction. Sponging off of society loser.

        2. fixxxer says:

Lol… at least i dont suck welfare. Love how i can get you all worked up mike. Dont worry yourself, im close to sealing the deal on a job since you seem so concerned about my well being.

        3. fixxxer says:

Also educate yourself. The taxpayers dont dish out comp payments or settlements. I got what i deserved and them some. Gotta love those lawyers. ;)

        4. Michael g (se gr) says:

Right fix. It’s magic money from the sky. I guess whoever coined the phrase “ignorance is bliss” never met anyone like fix.

  16. fixxxer says:

in addition to me coming up with the west michigan bubble i got bills approval to make up anew term for people like rj. “winternutitis” is the new term.

    1. Cort S. says:

The opposite of “summernutitis” ;) :)

  17. fixxxer says:

    http://www.intellicast.com/National/Temperature/HighTomorrow.aspx

this map just made rj have a mental breakdown.

  18. Cort S. says:

“i think it will be one of these years where the heat is locked just south of michigan.”
“the bottom line is not one person knows what it will do even 3 days out.”

No need to panic yet about what summer will or won’t bring. Remember in December when nothing was happening, and everyone was freaking out about how this winter could be even warmer and less snowy than last winter? Well, we know how well that turned out.

  19. Cort S. says:

Out of 59 comments… Fixx and Rocky combined have 31 of them. Cabin fever, eh guys? :)

    1. Swatz_Zoo(Cedar Springs) says:

I’m sorry but I have to ROFLMAO @Cort because I agree can we just leave it alone guys neither one of you is getting any where with name calling and insults, enough is enough please. I want to come back here and enjoy the blog as we approach severe storm season, I want to learn and enjoy the weather without having to continuously scroll down and through the bashing and insults just to find a related comment to weather, the weather is what it is, we can’t control what it will do as much as we would like to, it just isn’t going to happen the way we want all the time. Winters ending spring is here and Rocky is bummed about it and probably hanging onto hope that we’ll see 1 more good snow storm, where we are looking forward to spring/summer of good snow storms and we are now in limbo/transition so just enjoy each day as it is, crappy or not you only have 1 life to live so live it as if it were your last day on this God given earth.

      1. Swatz_Zoo(Cedar Springs) says:

CORRECTION: we are looking forward to spring/summer of good snow storm……”we are looking forward to spring/summer of good THUNDERSTORMS”, to much snow/cold get use to it comments that is all I’ve read so it’s imbedded in my brain.

        1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

          :)

        2. Barb says:

I agree! Let’s stick to weather here. You guys take your sparring somewhere else

      2. fixxxer says:

Did you really expect things to change here swatz? Im trting to get rid of the trolls for bill. ;)

        1. Swatz_Zoo(Cedar Springs) says:

One can only hope Fixxx, one can only hope!

        2. Barb says:

You could at least write decently and not sound like a hillbilly.

    2. fixxxer says:

Yup someone has to get the blog count up.

  20. Mike Geukes says:

I rarely post here anymore. Why? Because I really do not care about the weather in West Michigan and Michigan anymore.

The only states I pay attention to are: Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota and North Texas and the Panhandle of Texas.

I am a long time Michigan resident, but I have lived in Nebraska and Oklahoma. I love severe weather and someday I will move back to the Great Plains. That is where I belong.

    1. DF (SE Mich) says:

What else are you feeling? Can we help?

    2. fixxxer says:

You change your mind alot mike.

  21. Mike Geukes says:

Rocky should move to Canada or the Upper Peninsula

      Subject to change!!

    2. Brian(Grandville) says:

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that much of a contrast in temps from a cpc outlook. Could get very stormy in the middle of the country.

  23. INDY says:

Severe weather Wed. Severe weather Wed. Temps in thee low 70′s should be a fun Tracking day Bills blog will be rolling out the sprites for whats to fight!!!! Stay tuned INDYY….

    1. Swatz_Zoo(Cedar Springs) says:

We shall see what mother natures poker hand is by than and what she has to deal. Now if goslings hatch during severe weather I’ll need to come up with some cool names for them other than “Stormy.”

      1. Jack says:

Booms or Zooms, 4 names Swat~zoo ! Indy would Love those Names ! I’m sure…Rite INDY? We are all STORM STARVED… After last Seasons ..FAILS…..Stay cued..JEM ..Updates…lololo.. ;-)

    2. fixxxer says:

Its not going to be 70 indy. Not yet anyways.

    3. Bill himself said yesterday he disagrees that the 70 that one such station in the area is predicting.

  24. michael g (SE GR) says:

NWS says a much needed one to three inches of rain area wide this week. Fertilizer is on the lawn, maybe we can finally get things to green up.

    1. Barb says:

      Time for crab grass preventer.

  25. kalamazooguy says:

NWS says possibility of Strong Storms for us in near I-94 tomorrow due to warm front. Wednesday’s severe weather probability keeps dropping (not that there was much in the first place).

  26. Joe says:

Thank you Cort and Mike for actually posting about the weather on what is supposed to be a weather blog.

    1. Rodey (Rockford) says:

      I’ll second that.

    2. Rocky (Rockford) says:

Yes I agree 100% and hopefully fixxxer will come to his senses and stop his ridiculous, ignorant comments! I guess when you get awarded a settlement and you do not need to work you just sit on your computer and name call and complain about the weather! What a life?

    3. Cort S. says:

Thanks. Feel free to ask us any questions about weather if you discover something curious.

  27. mr. negative says:

Windy, cold, storm free, and 10-15 degrees below average through 2013.

  28. Jim S.(Saugatuck Twp) says:

18z gfs now shoes some decent icing wed over mid michigan. Nam is not as far south with the low. Might just be an odd model run.

    1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

Oh yes and then Thursday and Friday very cold with on and off SNOW showers! Get Ready!!

    2. Rocky (Rockford) says:

FOX 17 will probably forecast temps in the mid to upper 50′s with sun for Thursday and Friday. In reality it will barely make 40 degrees with SNOW showers!!!

  29. Rocky (Rockford) says:

    >>>>NEWS FLASH>>>>> We are still entrenched in COLD pattern! Very COLD and SNOWY by the end of next week. CPC has us with well below average temperatures in the 6 to 14 day outlook! We have multiple SNOWSTORMS on the horizon for Northern Lower MI! I love it and keep the COLD and SNOW rolling! fixxxxer Get Used To It!!! The warm weather nuts are in for a major hurting this Spring!!

    1. Jack says:

      No Comment….and…No CUE !! ;-)

      1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

        LOL

  30. kevin. w says:

Sure glad I didn’t sit in front of the computer all day to read a bunch BS back and forth. You can tell everyone has cabin fever on here when the weather is still crappy. Personally I don’t look for any kind of spring weather for another month were just about one month behind schedule. March is like February, April is like March and May will probably be between April and June, July and August will be like normal summertime and September will be like late October and well you can figure out the rest of next 8 months.

    1. Barry in Zeeland says:

Yeah, no kidding. I think there needs to be a limit in place for how many coments a person can make a day when it’s all just non-sense. There’s a hundred comments on this thread, and maybe 10 that are even worth reading. I’m starting to think a certain person or two is only on here to drive people away.

      1. Brian(Grandvile) says:

I don’t think they’re trying to drive people away, but I don’t understand their motive either.

  31. Barb says:

Can’t people be blocked when their comments are worthless and unrelated?

    1. Rodey (Rockford) says:

That would be nice. It would cut out about 75% of the comments.

  32. Nathan says:

NWS states that nearly 3 inches of rain could fall across southern Michigan between Monday-Thursday before the colder air moves back into our area… With possible snow. Certainly a crazy forecast!

    1. Bnoppe(Albion) says:

      Umbrellas to upright postions

  33. North side of holland says:

Did anyone see that stationary reddish light (not plane lights ) west by north west skies ?? It kinda faded off after a while

    1. Brian(Grandvile) says:

      They’re here!

    2. Bill Steffen says:

Sometimes a star (or planet) can shine in a reddish color when close to the horizon. A sky lantern could be a possibility. Winds were light, so a sky lantern wouldn’t be moving much.

  34. North side of holland says:

    Thanks:)
