First? Off to take the moveable letters off our signboard before the wind hits!

    1. GunLakeDeb says:

Never mind the letters – the wind took out the entire 4′ x 8′ sign around 3:45. Darn.

  2. Nathan says:

It is actually fairly foggy at the moment, but I’m sure the winds will break up the moisture by 4PM . Maybe we will see a fog advisory tonight? (Not dense fog)

    1. bnoppe(Albion) says:

I dont think they issiues a fog advisory unless it’s dense 0.25 vis or less

  3. Fun Fact: The last time we were this cold for this long here in lower Michigan was all the way back in 2002! That year we never reached 70F until April 11th!

    1. fixxxer says:

      Yay?

        1. Yup (Grandville) says:

          For real doe….

    2. ~Sherry~(Comstock Park) says:

I don’t think we will be reaching 70 by the 11th this year.

    3. Yup (Grandville) says:

So, are you planning a trip down south? Looks like there will be NO ACTION in West Michigan at this rate ;)

    4. SlimJim NW GR (1) says:

Once we get past Thursday (unless the warm front get well north of here)you can go back to 1991 and still not find a year where GR has not gotten up to 60° or better! I do not see GR getting above 60 no earlier then the week of the 15th and maybe not then. And as for 70???? time will tell. It should be noted that south of the warm front temps are in the low to upper 60′s in Michigan and well into the 70′s south of the state.
      SlimJim

  4. Ok, In Breckenridge (Gratiot County) our warmest temperature so far this year is 55.3 and nope it wasn’t this month. It was 55.3 back on January 12th !!

  5. Brenda (Otsego) says:

This wind has brought the temp up to 62 degrees!

    1. SBPortage002 says:

Yes a nice temp spike…currently reading 61 here in Portage with wind and sun.

  6. Which really makes last years March something to be amazed at

  8. Travis (Oakland County) says:

57 degrees here and damp. Must be spring!

    1. Mark (East Lansing) says:

46 in Ann Arbor and 50 at Detroit Metro. Did you get a bit of sun?

      1. Brenda (Otsego) says:

Yes, the sun is peeking out from time to time but the temp has dropped to 54 now.

  9. Travis (Oakland County) says:

Bill, you’re starting to sound like Rocky with all the constant mentions of snow up north! ;)

Meanwhile, just 100 miles south of GR it’s been 65-70 degrees the past couple days. Typical spring divergence at its best!

    1. Dan says:

Possible Snow and/or freezing rain late Wednesday and on Thursday, Travis!
Did you see that? I said these two frozen precips are possible! Would be rarity but, we have had cooler Aprils!

      1. SlimJim NW GR (1) says:

Going back to 1991 we only have gone this late into the year without hitting 60 and or 70 one year that was 2002 and we reached 60 on the April 10 that year and then 72 on the llth At this time it dose not look like we will hit 70 until next week and more likely then not will not hit 60 either. (the warmest it has been in GR so far this year is 59°) While areas to our south have gotten to 60 we have not.
        SlimJim

        1. Travis (Oakland County) says:

65 degrees over here right now, Slim. GR is missing out again!

    2. Rocky (Rockford) says:

Bill just states the facts Travis. He at least admits that we are still ENTRENCHED in COLD pattern! You and the rest of the warm weather nuts will not leave your fantasy land! Keep fantasizing about 60 and 70 degree weather!

      1. INDY says:

        lolololololo… JUST FACTS!! INDYY..

        1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

That right INDY – the facts elude many people around her! Keep up the good work!! We will be seeing more SNOW this Spring and there is absolutely no chance that GR will see 70 degrees on Wednesday. FOX 17 has lost their mind!!!

  10. Nathan says:

Wow the winds are starting to pick up! Already some fierce gusts!

    1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

Rock on Dan – COLD and SNOW is still in the forecast!

      1. fixxxer says:

Where the hell are you seeing any snow in the forecast? Enlighten us.

  11. INDY says:

Well Bills knows it’s still going to get cold thats all he saying!! Fact todays weather sucks cool and damp outside no where near 57* in West Michigan… Lets hope for fox 17 weather 70′s Wed…INDYY..

  12. Models show alma getting between 4 & 5 inches of QPF this week with the ECMWF showing about 1 inches of that coming with temperatures around 32 degrees of near 32 eeeks stay tuned

  13. I have a feeling the central and northern parts of NWS-GRR cold go under a winter storm watch if this continues.

    1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

That is too funny! I love it! I want to be clear that I am looking for SNOW not freezing rain!!!!!!

      1. fixxxer says:

we dont care what your looking for so shut rj.

  14. but mums the word ! hard to climb out on that limb this time of the year LOL

  15. Sorry for thinking out loud !!

    1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

      Keep up the good work!!!

  16. Dan says:

This could be an early Spring Snow Storm, Mark! It could get nasty, especially if we get that freezing rain. It COULD happen. I’m not liking it. With the way this Winter has gone, it MAY happen.

  17. INDY says:

WOW a snow storm coming thats what Harry Musgusty is saying now …He’s been right for 4 months now about Michigans weather cold and storm after storm we shall see,,,,Stay tuned …INDYY…

    1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

SNOW – who knew? I have been reminding the warm weather nuts about this for the last few weeks, but as usual they are too stubborn to believe it!!!

    2. I like Henry M. but I thru him under the bus a few years ago LOL

  18. While I don’t think will get much snow, if we wake up with a ton of it later this week, I won’t say I was surprised. I DO NOT WANT SNOW but I do love storms so its a win-win situation LOL

  19. I worry more about low level cold air from Ontario and freezing rain, could be snow but it might be the best moisture is almost gone before we get cold enough to support all snow ??

  20. Rocky (Rockford) says:

Bill – GREAT photo of the Lake Superior shoreline and all of that SNOW! What a beautiful site. I am considering driving up there this weekend – they will be getting hammered with SNOW this week. AMAZING and I love it!!!!!!

  21. Travis Ulberg (West of Martin, Allegan County) says:

It sure was nice going south to southern Indiana this weekend. It was in the upper 60′s for highs, I didn’t need to put on my hoodie until 9 or 9:30, and the temp was still 61° at 2am in Indianapolis on Sunday morning. The temperature has really spiked here at WMU. When I went into class before 2PM it was still chilly, then wind really picked up at about 2:50. And when I came out at 3:15 it was a good 10-15° warmer, and it was actually a warm wind.

And on a different note, we had the last of the snow melt off our deck on Saturday. I can’t believe it lasted until the 6th of April.

  22. Uncle Sparkee says:

Well well my little weather hobos, layout bake out and wade out! Your ol uncle sparky is putting the chicken poop out in the garden of mars! Counting down the days till the minne green monsters get a taste of the natural sun! Sick of ol aunty Edna riden my hide bout the indoor garden of Saturn. May daze and bone head haze! Lets get to gettin my west mi blood brothers!

  23. SBPortage002 says:

Up to 64 here and plenty of sun…lovin it.

  24. Mike (Mattawan) says:

    70 tomorrow?? AWHAAAA…?

  25. Rocky (Rockford) says:

Well lets see the NWS predicts a high in the mid to upper 40′s for GR on Wednesday and FOX 17 predicts a high of 70 degrees! Very interesting!!

    1. SlimJim NW GR (1) says:

Right now the temps are in the upper 60′s near the Michigan/Indiana border while here at my house its only 44° So it could be near 70 south of Kzoo and only in the 40′s here in GR.
      SlimJim

      1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

        Exactly 100% correct!

  26. Jasper near Monroe / Dundee we have our weather station now showing 71.3 degrees, it was 55 about an hour ago, Blissfield 69 wow nice

  27. Kevin (Marshall) says:

How strong are the winds? Basketball stand blown over…shingles coming off the house.

    1. Cort S. says:

The airport in Marshall has been gusting to 45.

  28. Rocky (Rockford) says:

In fact I just checked and the NWS is now predicting a high of 43 degrees for GR!

  29. Cort S. says:

  30. bnoppe(Albion) says:

    I thought this was funny

RECENT TRENDS: TEMPERATURES…WELL…IT HASN`T BEEN WARM OVER THE
LAST 7 DAYS (IT WAS IN FLORIDA…SO COMING BACK TO THIS FORECAST IS
    UTTERLY SOUL CRUSHING).

    from APX

  31. Travis (Oakland County) says:

    Heat wave!

65 degrees in Detroit, up to 71 degrees in Monroe.

    1. Cort S. says:

Lucky! I’ve been stuck in the low and featureless gray clouds all afternoon, and as a result, I did not get that warm air aloft mixing down to me at the ground.

      Here is a satellite loop:
      http://climate.cod.edu/flanis/satellite/1km/index.php?type=Michigan-vis-24
Looks like everyone south of I-94 and I-69 had a pretty nice afternoon/evening, though a windy one.

      1. Travis (Oakland County) says:

It went from 57 to 48 as the rain came through and now mid 60′s, sunny, and calm. What a crazy day.

      2. SBPortage002 says:

Yeah the sun came out here and got to the mid 60s for awhile. Pleasant late afternoon for sure.

      3. Brad (Lawrence) says:

I’m a little North of I-94 and we got to 64 today. Ended up being pretty nice.

  32. Cort S. says:

Here are the total rainfall amounts expected from 8 pm tonight through 8 pm Thursday. Over 3 inches for pretty much everyone in southern Lower MI.

    1. Brian(Grandville) says:

Good news for the sake of the rivers and lakes. At the same time that could lead to some minor flooding.

  33. Jo Z from Gaines Township says:

Bill I was born and raised in GR area. It seams to me that the wind is stronger and blows more often than the 70′s and 80′s. Is this really happening or am I going crazy.

    1. fixxxer says:

Ive said many times its always windy here.

      1. Irish coffee says:

“always windy here”?????? LOL…….you need to get out more!Seriously, Mon. would have been a calm day on Mt Wash. Sierra Nevada’s or Front Range(Rockies) also qualify as windy locales– but W. Mi? NO, i don’t think so..last summer didn’t featureONE single mo. abv 10 mph wind (avg speed), fwiw

  34. Jim S.(Saugatuck Twp) says:

Awful day here a couple miles from Lake Michigan. It was 57 this morning, but once the wind kicked in off the lake, the afternoon was stuck around 40 with strong winds and fog off the lake. It’s 39 now. Ouch.

    1. SBPortage002 says:

Looks like temp extremes all around the area today. You could travel from 70 degrees to 60 degrees in a few hours. Pack jacket to shorts.

      1. SBPortage002 says:

        oops..I meant 40, not 60.

  35. fixxxer says:

Great spring so far right guys?…blah

    1. Brian(Grandville) says:

It is what it is. What do you do about it.

      1. fixxxer says:

        Complain until it changes?

  36. Rob( Norton Shores) says:

    Sarcasm?

  37. Jack says:

Just ah Observation , About The Pic. of Lake Superior . The Only Thing Missing is ROCKY sitting on The Bench !! Stay Cued, God Bless, plus….GO BLUE !!!! ;-)

    1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

They have lost their minds. It may not even get above 50 degrees in GR on Wednesday and then more COLD with a rain/SNOW mix on Thursday and Friday. Just yesterday FOX 17 showed high in the mid 50′s for Thursday and Friday. I declare their entire forecast for this week as a 100% FAIL!! Just horrible!

    2. Bill Steffen says:

I never look at the competition’s forecasts, but I did this time. FOX is still at 70 (and their discussion is incorrect in saying that the models have been moving in that direction…they have not…the GFS has been slowly and surely moving away from the warm solution since it first proposed it the middle of last week, bringing the low and front farther south with each model run. The 18Z GFS now is down to 50 for a high on Weds.). WZZM is 45, I’m 46, WWMT is 52 and the GRR NWS is low 40s (I think these are all good forecasts IMHO…WWMT is farther south in Kalamazoo). The GRR NWS has had excellent forecast discussions over the past week, giving their take on why the cooler solution was preferred. We’ve all had major forecast busts, so I’m not trying to pat myself on the back here, but there comes a time when it’s 4th down and 35 yards to go and it’s time to punt the ball.

      1. Nathan says:

Yea, you might not pay attention to your competitors forecast unless they are 30 degree warmer than your prediction! However, I agree, I’m not sure what he is thinking AND hopefully he doesn’t read this comment :p

      2. Agree, trend has been toward the Euro

      3. Jim S.(Saugatuck Twp) says:

I guess it makes for good ratings. How many people will tune in to see if he budges?

  38. Rocky (Rockford) says:

fixxxer, the NWS forecast for GR shows some SNOW Thursday night, Friday and Friday night! Enjoy!!

    1. fixxxer says:

      Go troll somewhere else.

  39. Rocky (Rockford) says:

The 18Z GFS model shows more SNOW next week and beyond for West MI! Get ready for the COLD and SNOW to continue!!

    1. Rodey (Rockford) says:

The 18Z GFS shows warmer temps and rains chances for next week and beyond. Get ready for the warmer temps and rain. Fantastic news. I love it. Get used to it.

    2. SBPortage002 says:

Where is this snow and cold you speak of? Last I checked we have had no snow and temps haven’t been too cold. Some cases mild. And as always. yopu never provide proof, which makes you NOT credible.

  40. GFS shows about 20-25 inches from around Mio to Harrisville

    1. Rocky (Rockford) says:

Now you are talking my language. Keep the good news rolling in! Skiing till MAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
