grand marais snow   Check out the road conditions in Wyoming.  It’s like mid-winter. Snow in mid-April in the U.P. – picture from the Grand Marais Sno-Trails Assn.   The U.P. is going to get another April snowstorm.  Look at the large band of snow from Colorado to Canada that the European model prints out.  Check out the Snowman Cam at Krupp’s Resort at Twin Lakes.  Snow depth reports this Wed. AM:  48″ Hoist Basin, 34″ 10 miles south of Grand Marais, 33″ Marquette Airport, 25″ Munising, 22″ Tahquamenon Falls, 12″ Ironwood and S. Ste. Marie, 4″ E. Jordan, 3″ 9 miles SW of Gaylord, 2″ Kalkaska.  Ahead of the next snowstorm, winter storm warnings are out for much of Wyoming, W. Nebraska and SW S. Dakota. for 8-10″ of new snow.  The National Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center  reports that 25.5% of the Lower 48 states has a snow cover this (Tue.) morning!  That’s an amazingly high coverage for April 16th…more than double average and over 3 times the snow cover of April 16 last year.

I think Bill wishes he lived in the UP sometimes.

Marquette averages around 10″ of snow for April, and a few inches in May too. June-August are the only three months they don’t average measurable snow.

    Crazy yoopers!

    1. ryan says:

the three months it doesn’t snow up there you have to deal with blackflies mosquitos and ticks

    2. Kristine says:

Marquette has already gotten 18″ of snow in April. Another storm is adding insult to injury! My husband and
I shoveled the 10″ from the last storm over the weekend. People are running out of places to pile snow at this point.

INDY!!! I have been so ready as you most likely saw!! They cut me down and said stop!! But NO I kept on going and now they put it in the Weather forecast!! Bring on those SPRITES/DiET for me though.

  7. Tyler (Escanaba) says:

Two 50 degree days with sunshine melted majority of our snow. We still have a foot of snow in shaded spots and 75% of the ground that is exposed to the sun is bare. Alot of snowbanks left though.

  8. Vicki Bykerk says:

We only had to cuss once to get our mouths washed out with soap, Bill, but yet you keep continuing to cuss every week and there have been no consequences for you. So I felt that its only fair that you get the same treatment … So here is your virtual bar of soap, open wide and take a big , big bite! (~~~~).
Oh what cuss word you say???

    I’m dieing to go camping!!!
