That is very bad, hopefully they create a solution soon and thanks to the technitions for their hard work. Any word on what caused the malfuntion?

  2. Mike (Shepherd, Mi) says:

Wonder if that has anything to do with my internet provider losing all service at the same time they had to switch to backup network

Update #5 from the Satellite Services Division:
Recovery efforts for GOES-13 continue and the spacecraft health and safety are nominal. GOES-14 is being activated and the first images will be available @ 0500 UTC on Thurs. May 23rd, 2013.

    List of GOES satellites:

GOES-13: Launched in 2006, currently serving as GOES East.
GOES-14: Launched in 2009, currently a backup. Can be moved out of storage orbit to serve is GOES East when GOES-13 fails or is decommissioned.
GOES-15: Launched in 2010, currently serving as GOES West.

Bill Inthink that cloud picture I sent you was a funnel cloud! Read the NWS Severe Statement for Kent. They stated thatfunnel clouds (today) could appear out of ordinary rain showers without warning!

  9. Paul says:

And now they will take over your health care, good luck folks!

    1. Daniel G says:

Paul, if you don’t like the government weather service just say so. Fact is they are rather non-partisan. Or you could put up your own satellite system and weather bureau.

      1. Paul says:

And I could put you on the nose of the rocket if you wish, DANIEL G!
