Frost Advisory

advisory     There’s a Frost Advisory for the U.P. and Northern Lower Michigan for Monday night/early Tuesday.  Temperatures will once again be down in the low 30s-mid Tuesday AM in these areas.  There was a Frost Advisory for Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta and Isabella counties to the north Monday morning.   This is June…but this is Michigan.  Morning lows:  24 Doe Lake, 27 Spincich Lake and Kenton, 28 Champion, 29 Stambaugh, Amasa and Fife Lake,  Kalkaska dipped to 30.  31 at Gaylord, Cadillac, Houghton Wellston and Pellston (hmmm…they rhyme – Wellston is in Manistee Co.).  32 in Marquette, Houghton Lake and Petosky.   It was 34 in Baldwin, Manistee and at the agricultural stations near Lawrence and Watervliet.   The low was 36 in Big Rapids (which won’t be quite as cold on calm, clear nights because they moved the weather station 28-feet higher than it was).  It was 37 this AM in Fremont, S. Haven and Ludington, 38 in Muskegon, Hastings and Jackson, 39 in Lansing, 40 at Battle Creek and Kalamazoo and 41 in G.R.   Look for sunshine and temps. in the 60s during the day with temps. warming into the pleasant low-mid 70s for much of the rest of the week.  Here’s storm reports from Sunday…looks like one tornado seen from three directions in Anderson Co., SC.  Lots of wind damage reports in New England.  I see Oak Ridge TN got nearly 2 1/2″ of rain after I left…good timing.

Its AWESOME outside! This is as close to perfect weather as you can get!
Yes, I would take it a few degrees warmer. I’m NOT complaining, really take a look outside, there is not a cloud in the sky! fixxxer says its cloudy all the time. Nothing but Golden Sunshine!!

  6. Sandi says:

Quite a change from last summer! Furnace clicked on during the night!

  7. Travis (Oakland County) says:

It’s warmer than last June so far for me. June 2012 started out (high temps) 65, 74, 79, 72, 68 for me last year.

This June I hit 82, 73 so far.

And May 2013 ended up very close to the warmth we saw in May 2012. Just about one degree difference. Both very warm months.

NWS outlook is out for Summer 2013:

Near normal temps predicted to start and then above normal temps the 2nd half of summer. About average precipitation prediction (isn’t it always?).

  8. mr. negative says:

Storm proof, heat proof…and so it begins.

  9. DF (SE Mich) says:

The NWS says SLIGHTLY above average in the official outlook to be fair. I wonder what they said last summer?

I was waiting with anticipation for your daily report on the Flint temperature abnormality. It helped me make it through May knowing every day how the temperature was in Flint. =)

    1. DF (SE Mich) says:

To my fellow Eastsider of course.

    2. Travis (Oakland County) says:

Told ya I’d end up +5 or +6 above average for May! My math skills weren’t that bad after all.

      1. DF (SE Mich) says:

Flint and only Flint, the most abnormal place in Michigan =)

You were correct though at +5.0° just barely.

While I did not see any frost this AM I did have a low of 37° here this AM.
Yesterday was a very cold June day for most of Michigan today is better but still on the cool side.67° here with a good bit of sun shine.

Oh – but being out in that glorious sun is awesome!!! I’ve been catching up on yard work/landscaping, etc while it’s cool and comfortable out there!!
