  3. Travis (Oakland County) says:

Sun and muggy again and back up close to 80 here. Fuel for some severe storms?

  4. Jeff (Richland) says:

OK so this morning the SPC had us all in the severe outlook for today, Wednesday, and Thursday. I noticed earlier that we were no longer in the Thursday outlook and now they just removed us from the Wednesday outlook!!! What the heck is going on???

    1. Travis (Oakland County) says:

And no widespread severe today either (at least so far). Disappointing.

I can hear fixxxer saying bust already…

    2. SlimJim NW GR (1) says:

Hey, we did get a nice soaking rain and already are above average for rain fall for June. Everything is nice and green so in that department its been a good summer so far.

      1. Jeff (Richland) says:

My lawn was not nice and green till the rain we had today. So I am thankful we got rain but it’s frustrating when day over day we are predicted to get multiple rounds of storms and now it seems they are beginning to retract that. Makes me wonder if what we got earlier is it for the rest of the week.

        1. Rob( Norton Shores) says:

          My thoughts to.

  5. SlimJim NW GR (1) says:

I received 0.67″ of total rain so far today. Today’s rain will put GR above average for June with several more days to go. I don’t know how much rain that some people who are claiming they need rain received (or where they live) but for some areas here is west Michigan this continues to be a wetter then average year. Temp wise June is now almost at average (-0.4°) at the GR airport. Right now I have generally cloudy skies and a temp of 78° here.

  6. INDY says:

Well Bill the sun is back out in Grand rapids…..INDYY..

  7. Travis (Oakland County) says:

Forecast today was for mid 80′s… then Bill said low to mid 70′s because of the cloud cover, and now it looks like the 80+ are back on for most of us.

Crazy day! 82 currently in Holland, 83 in AA, 81 Detroit

    1. INDY says:

Yeaaa fixxer was wrong again on thee temps not Bill….INDYY…

    2. Mark (East Lansing) says:

On the contrary, he said 70s for much of the day – not all day.

77 in Muskegon and 79 in GR.

  8. Mindy ( Mason MI ) says:

SPC is always changing SLIGHT RISK AREA!! What a JOKE!!! 3 to 4 Days out, then when the day comes,Delete, no more slight risk area for MI. laugh, laugh, laugh !!!

  10. SBPortage002 says:

81 here, DP 72 and muggy….had over 2.2 inches of rain from those back to back heavy storms this morning.

  11. kevin. w says:

Everbody enjoy summer and the hot, humid weather we had…good because now we go back into an eastern trough western ridge pattern. Heat stays out in the southwest and will stay below normal through the next 2-3 weeks with mostly upper 70s and maybe an 80. My guess by looking at the pattern that we don’t really get anymore heat til after the 20th or so of July and really don’t see much long term heat either. Still think we might get a good northwest to southeast severe storm wind event as disturbances come up and over the western ridge. Just gotta get one with strength and coming at the right time of day. There will be an omega type blocking pattern for the forseeable future so not much really to talk about after the next few days severe weather chance…and thats gotten flushed down by all the new model data.

    1. Bill Steffen says:

People keep asking when we’ll see our first 90-degree day. Kalamazoo and Battle Creek have already reached 90. Here in G.R. who knows…sometime in July…maybe! The water temp. made 70 at Grand Haven today.

      1. SlimJim NW GR (1) says:

Who knows it may very well be one of those years when we may see only one or two (or maybe none) 90° days. Its still too early to say we will not get a day or more of 90° temps and my guess is that July may have one or more its sleeve but then again who knows??? Heck we may have frost come late September and that my friends is only a little over 2 and a half months away….BTW my wife and me are going to Branson mo
And then Kansas City in July so I feel very confident we will see several 90° days then.

      2. Travis (Oakland County) says:

GR’s been so close to 90 degrees, I don’t really know if the barrier is that relevant.

Most places have already seen the 90′s! And GR’s been in the upper 80′s many times already.

        1. Bill Steffen says:

Most places? Grand Rapids has had one 89, one 88 and two 87s so far. The highest so far in Jackson and Lansing has been 88. The last two days were the first two days that Copper Harbor has been higher than 71 this month. Again…if we end June with below average temps. – that’ll be 4 out of 5 months below average.

  12. Brian(Grandville) says:

MD for southern WI, northern IL, and eastern IA. Maybe something develops out there and moves this way later this evening.

    1. Jack says:

    1. GunLakeDeb says:

That looks like a nasty and quickly-growing line of storms headed your way?

      1. GunLakeDeb says:

Storm Tracks on Intellicast says one cell might contain hail?

      2. Cliff (Scotts) says:

Ya we will see if it holds up, can always use rain but nothing severe, seems like we get hit when there are no watches, but if there is a watch you can bet nothing happens

        1. Cliff (Scotts) says:

Watching this line blow up, it seems to be just sitting their

    2. SBPortage002 says:

cliff you sure nailed that one all right..

    1. fixxxer says:

Thats all it was here earlier today. Just heavy rains.

  19. SBPortage002 says:

Been quite a day for heavy storms in some areas down here. They developed fast and absolutely blew up. i just missed these this time.

  20. Kimoeagle says:

Meanwhile, a large clump of storms coming out of Bloomington & Champaign,IL heading E. We’ve had a Severe Thunderstorm Watch out on this one for the past several hours…..

    1. Kimoeagle says:

Lots of rain here in Angola – downpour type, accompanied by occasional lightning and distant thunder. Believe most of the fireworks are down toward Ashley, Hamilton, etc.Temp currently 66F with Bar. at 29.91 and slowly dropping. Some wind, but nothing gale-size.

  23. Cliff (Scotts) says:

Got .8 tenths and a comfortable 68 degrees makes for a total of 2.2 inches from this morning and afternoon

  24. Kevin (Marshall) says:

Continuous thunder south of Marshall now.

  25. Resourceful Nana says:

Another 0.5″ of rain for a total of 2.3″ for the day thus far. Still lots of thunder in the area. The bass fishermen on Portage Lake didn’t seem to mind the storm–must be a good prize for the tournament tonight. No hail here and after the initial gusts as the storm hit, the rain fell straight down.

  26. Red in Allegan Co. says:

I’m between Allegan and Martin and I’m hearing the thunder now.

  27. SBPortage002 says:

Bo. more popping up around here. More thunder at present.

    1. SBPortage002 says:

      meant to say “boy”

      1. Kevin (Marshall) says:

Looks like a train of storms is trying to develop. Get your sump pumps ready.

        1. SBPortage002 says:

          Getting active again this evening.

        2. Cliff (Scotts) says:

Yes it does, getting heavy rain again. No wind thankfully.

    2. tinainvbcounty says:

Hearing the ruckus to the south of me, but not in the action. Not sorry about it either! I’m afraid that severe stuff that knocked us about a bit has made me more nervous than I was before.

  28. Kevin(Rockford) says:

Sad Trombone for those North of KZoo

    1. mr. negative says:

      1. fixxxer says:

  29. Travis (Oakland County) says:

Heads up, DF! Severe storms heading into SE Mich.

    1. fixxxer says:

No shocker there. You guys have been hogging the storms all season.

      1. Swatz_Zoo(Cedar Springs) says:

        The last few years

        1. fixxxer says:

yeah i dunno whats going on swatz.

  30. Jessie (Caledonia) says:

Good for them (again), when do WE get to see some action?? Man, the last few summers have been pitiful for storms over here!!

    1. fixxxer says:

kinda glad its not just me noticing it, well aside from swatz.

  31. BranchCountyBob says:

Enjoying the rumbles and the flashes for about close to 2 hours now. Haven’t seen much to report. Saw a decent shelf cloud come over at the start with about 40 mph winds.

  32. TrippedUpDaddy says:

Think the temp needs to drop a little more before GR can even sniff rain tonight.

    1. fixxxer says:

i dunno if you noticed but we had a ton of “rain” today.

  33. Zach says:

    New mesodiscussion… severe threat continues…

New Thunderstorm warning for Cass, Branch and St Joe

  34. Kevin (Msrshall) says:

Why haven’t they issued a flood watch for the southern two tiers of counties?

    1. Cliff (Scotts) says:

I have been wondering the same, it’s just keeps coming and coming

    2. Zach says:

Two different offices handle those counties… the southern most tear (Berrien and to the east) are handled by Northern Indiana and they have a flash flood warning posted for Three Rivers to the east. Grand Rapids has not issued anything regarding flooding yet. There are also no LSRs for the GRR area to indicate flooding at this point and the heavier stuff appears to be in the southern most counties of the viewing area.

I dont work for NWS and I did not stay at a Holiday in express tonight, but thats my oppinion.

      1. Brad (Lawrence) says:

  37. Ben (Kalamazoo) says:

Storming here again. I’m glad to see my prediction for this summer is coming true. I said it would be hot, but more comfortable temps than the last two summers and plenty of storm activity. Earlier tonight I rode my bike to the store down the road and this nice shelf cloud was forming and coming from the south west (yeah i know, riding my bike in a storm, crazy)

  38. Yup (Grandville) says:

    Homer Simpson: “Boring!!!!”

  39. INDY says:

  41. DF (SE Mich) says:

Rain and thunder for the last hour here in A2. No end in sight. Keep the rain coming.

  42. carrie (byron center) says:

Seeing the lightning from the south but its looking like that may be the only action we see tonight.

    1. Yup (Grandville) says:

      Quite a pretty light show!

  43. Cliff (Scotts) says:

Geeze how long can this go for?

  44. Kevin (Marshall) says:

Storms continue to keep regenerating over Allegan and Kalamazoo counties for the past 5 hours. Any end in sight?

    1. fixxxer says:

Its called training. You guys must be in the sweet spot.

  45. Scott (robinson twsp) says:

Nice thing about living in tin butt 2 with a field to the south is you get to see cool light shows. Amazing how far away the storms are and still lighting the sky up here. Must be the high moisture helping illumination.

  46. Kevin (Marshall) says:

If anything the cells training from Allegan county are getting stronger. I

  47. fixxxer says:

I can see the lightning from here.

  48. Brian(Grandville) says:

There is going to be some serious flooding in Allegan, Barry counties and to the south and east tonight by the looks of the radar.

  49. Ray says:

    Pretty good lightning show!
