The average temperature for the month was 68.4 in Grand Rapids. That is exactly average, down to 1/10th of a degree. Lansing was 0.2 deg. cooler than average and Muskegon was 0.1 deg. warmer than average. Grand Rapids did not have a 90-degree temperature in June, our warmest was 89 on the 23rd. Lansing peaked at 88 and Muskegon’s highest was 85. Rainfall totaled 4.52″ in Grand Rapids and that was 3/4″ above average. Monthly rainfall was 4.33″ in Muskegon and a whopping 8.40″ in Lansing. The average wind speed was 7.4 mph and we had a respectable 66% of possible sunshine. Much of the East saw heavy rain in June. These cities all set record rainfall totals for the month: New York City- 10.27″, Boston – 13.2″, Philadelphia – 10.11″, Atlanta 11.21″, Baltimore – 9.95″ and Wilmington – 13.66″.
We have some high clouds this Monday AM – the west edge of the cloud shield from the large upper low that is providing wet weather for much of the Eastern U.S. The overnight European model gives G.R. dry weather today, 0.14″ tomorrow (heavier southeast), dry on Weds./Thurs. and 0.16″ next weekend (Sat. and Sun. combined). The warmest days would be Fri. – Sat. at around 86 or 87 – still no 90 on the European. The GFSX gives G.R. a high of 88 on Sat. and 87 on Sun. with a 70% chance of showers tomorrow (Tue.) and 62% on Weds.
