Here’s what happened Tue. PM. Gusts to near 50 mph in the Kalamazoo area (Kings Highway and Business I-94), 48 mph at the Battle Creek Airport and 45 mph at Augusta. Tree down on house N. McKinley St. in Battle Creek, Tree down in Springfield, Avenue A. There were some small branches down in Okemos. 1/2 – 3/4″ of rain in 1/2 hour in Kalamazoo. 2.5″ of rain in Galesburg, 1.4″ in an hour and 25 minutes at Richland, 1.05″ at Sunfield, 1″ in St. Johns in 40 minutes. Lighter rainfall totals: 0.04″ at Muskegon GVSU, 0.6 Boatwerks in Holland and 0.09″ at GVSU in Allendale. There are a few relatively small power outages. There’s a Severe T-Storm Watch for Southern Arizona of all places, including Phoenix for southwesterly moving thunderstorms with strong winds. There was an 82mph wind gust near Fort Huachuca. Storms like this can produce dust storms. Severe weather in the U.S. so far includes: One small tornado at Deerbrook, Wisconsin – west of Green Bay, a tornado damaged 5 mobile homes in Bradenton, Florida, golfball-sized hail at Hannover ND and a little wind damage at Granville NC and Dublin OH.
