Gas Going Up Again!

gas prices  Sunday night update from Ed:  “Some areas are already at $3.99… After Thursday’s market spike in Chicago, Friday’s spike is courtesy of a national spike in the market. A spike at the pump to $3.99 has already happened in some areas. Expect that or more everywhere else Monday.”

Also, a lucky fan caught FOUR foul balls at the Royals/Indiana Major League Baseball Game last night.

Guess I had better get gas on lunch, Was holding off hoping it would go lower.

  2. Matt says:

But WHY is there a national spike? Who is setting crude oil prices, and how are they coming up with that amount at certain dates?

I think we should all boycott from buying any oil based products for 48 hours. If every single person in America bought what they needed before hand, then for 2 days, didn’t buy a single drop, I wonder what that would do. Oil companies are too out of control with greed and power.

    1. Pete says:

Absolutely nothing. You’d simply shift buying all those oil-based products from day one to day three.

Now if people would make a pledge to USE no oil-based products for forty-eight hours, that could potentially make a difference. Unfortunately, since oil-based products are in everything from grocery packaging to drink containers to the fuel you’d need to get to work, it would be almost impossible to do it on a scale that would be noticeable.

    2. Travis (Oakland County) says:

The last two weeks saw the biggest consumption of global oil ever recorded. Gas prices go up when the price of oil goes up. Simple supply and demand.

  3. Dan says:

Drill in America! Drill baby Drill. This is CRAZY!

    1. mike says:

uhhhhhhh, its not the middle east that is driving up the price, its the good ole American stock market and American companies like Exxon Mobile and Marathon ( Speedway ). Pumping here sounds great and if you want to talk jobs then yes drill here but it will do nothing to affect the cost of a gallon of gas.

      1. mike says:

        “drilling here” sorry

    2. Travis (Oakland County) says:

Are you aware that only 9% of America’s current energy consumption comes from the Middle East?

      1. barbara says:

18% actually from the “Middle East” in 2012 and Canada is our number one importer of oil at 2.5 million barrels a DAY. There have been investigations into Companies fixing oil prices which is illegal.

  4. Mark (East Lansing) says:

Already jumped to $3.99 all around here. Hey, at least it’s not $4 a gallon.

  5. Travis (Oakland County) says:

Filled up for 3.84 this AM.

    1. Mark (East Lansing) says:

      Still too much.
