A tornado hit Ursuline College just east of Cleveland last night at 3:35 AM. The twister has been rated EF1 with winds of 110 mph. Only five people were said to be on campus Saturday night. The college has roughly 1,500 students during the school year. The tornado traveled nearly a mile and a half and was 200 yards wide (twice the width of a football field). A gymnasium wall was toppled and many old trees on campus were uprooted. The school library and science center also sustained damage. Power lines were downed and there was damage at a local golf course. Insulation from the college was found more than a mile away. The storms also caused local flooding. Six inches of rain fell at Fairport Harbor and 4.5″ in Sandusky County.
