Severe Risk Friday PM/Weekend

July 26th, 2013 at 1:08 pm by under Bill's Blog, Weather

1630 UTC Day 1 Outlook    md West Michigan is in the General Thunderstorm Outlook for tonight. There is a small Slight Risk Area across the lake in Eastern Wisconsin.  The image on the right is a meso-discussion for storms in E. Wisconsin this evening.  While severe weather is not impossible, it’s also not likely.  There was a 58 mph wind east of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, where a tree fell on a garage and some wires were down, 48 mph wind gust northeast of Madison WI and small hail at Fond Du Lac WI.   Remember, severe weather is hail 1″ in diameter or greater or winds of 58 mph or greater. With cold air aloft moving in…there will be a chance of a little, small hail and wind gusts to 40 mph in a few of the bigger storms. Watch me tonight on the news for the latest. I’ll update the blog when I can.  See the thread below for radar and links

  3. Daniel G says:

Nice storm line formed from White River, Ontario down through the UP, into eastern Wisconsin into northern Illinois at this time. East/Central UP looks like another round of major storms ongoing. Give it a few hours and looks like we could have a nice batch of storms…nothing radical IMHO though, move through west Michigan. We can use the rain.

  4. Tornado Warning for Chippewa County. Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Crazy!!

  16. Brian(Grandville) says:

Another strong cold front to come through in July without storms. The lake has been killing almost everything this year. It has all been I-94 south, US 10 north, and 127 east. We just don’t get good old storms around here like we use to. Strange.

    1. Vincent(N.E.Kent CO) says:

Maybe someone is dropping huge amounts of Rain-X in the lake west of us.

      1. Bruiseviolet (Cedar Springs) says:

Hmm interesting… doesn’t Charles Russell use Rain-X on Black Beauty? ;)

    2. Bruiseviolet (Cedar Springs) says:

“The lake has been killing almost everything this year.”

Just this year? LOL the past 3 or so years have felt like this. :)

      1. Vincent(N.E.Kent CO) says:

Maybe it’s the new fast boat crossing the lake from Muskegon to Old Milwobly. They might be breaking the sound barrier and parting the clouds. What year did they start? Maybe they are using E-85 gas?

        1. Vincent(N.E.Kent CO) says:

I looked er up. June 1st 2004. We have had rain and storms since then so that thought goes out the window. Back to Rain-X.

  17. Barb says:

How much rain has fallen in GR so far this month, Bill?

  18. YeahThatDan says:

Bring on. The storms! We need a real soaker. Can we get lightning? I like thunder. I like when it goes BOOM and shakes my bones. Loving this weather. And info! Thanks Bill.
