Nice rain, plenty of vivid lightning (some beauties). Winds gusted perhaps 35-40 mph out ahead of the rain. Still raining and booming with wind dying down.

  3. Some wind, some rain, some thunder, a few distant flashes of lightning off to my south. Nothing special. Already looking ahead to next week’s rain chances.

There is a lot of super-refraction taking place in this post-storm environment. It’s bending some energy of the radar beam back toward the ground over great distances, which would normally be below the horizon. The GRR radar is picking up the wind farm south of Ludington. In “ordinary” conditions, the radar beam would be more than a mile above ground at that location. http://i.imgur.com/llwfcgh.png

  8. Vincent(N.E.Kent CO) says:

Rode the storm out at a friends place in Grattan Township. Heavy rain and wind. A 4 inch dia 20 foot long Maple branch came down along with many other smaller ones in his yard. The roads were just covered with leaves and twigs. I have over a .50 inch to almost .75 in my rain gage at home, but not many leaves down. Now I am out in the garage listing to the owl hooting across the woods. Great night out. Sweated my but off watering all my flowers and garden stuff Weds morn because there was not going to be much rain. HMMM? Go figure.

  9. Vincent(N.E.Kent CO) says:

Oh ya,that was a live Maple branch. Plus it looks dark to my south. I’m not seeing any lights on anywhere. 50 mins ago I seen a Comsumers Energy truck going by chashing power lines with his spot light. Nice and clear with an almost full moon. Perfect temps.

  11. Jeff Northern Ionia County says:

Definitely slept through this one. Woke up around 6:00 this morning, and still looked dry at my house. But by the sound of it I should have gotten something.

  12. Jeff (Richland) says:

A paltry .12″ of rain here, I knew the strings would die off quickly.
