Click on the image to enlarge. This is precipitation compared to average over the past year (Sept. 2012 thru Aug. 2013. Michigan had their wettest year-to-year precipitation ever (119 years of record) over that period of time. That’s the overwhelming reason for the rise in Great Lakes Water Levels. Note the wet pattern over much of the eastern U.S., where we have had a record low number of wildfires this year.
