“Silver Bells” gets a West Michigan premiere and national TV debut

The made-for-TV movie “Silver Bells”, that filmed in Grand Rapids, Ludington, and Manistee will get its premiere here ahead of its national TV debut next month.

The holiday family movie starring Bruce Boxleitner revolves around a hyper-competitive father and his journey to discover the true meaning of Christmas and hope.  The story focuses on the mission of The Salvation Army and features the Kroc Center, The Salvation Army brass band, Fulton Heights & Booth Family Services.

The screening is one night only: Wednesday, November 20th at 7:00pm at Celebration! Cinema South.  Tickets are free when you bring a new, unwrapped toy ($10 value) to the Kroc Center or any local Kregel Parable Christian Store between now and November 20th.   Tickets will also be available at the door with a toy donation.

“Silver Bells” is directed by Michigan filmmaker Harold Cronk (“The Adventures of Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Treasure” (2013) and “Jerusalem Countdown” (2011)), and is based on a story by Andrea Gyertson Nasfell.  In addition to Boxleitner, the cast includes Kenton Duty as his son, Antonio Fargas as a Major from the Salvation Army, Bridgett Newton as his wife, and Laura Spencer as his daughter.

My sources aren’t expecting any of the cast, but the director, Cronk may be in attendance.  Manistee based 10 West Studios joined with Rebel Forge to make “Silver Bells”, its being distrubuted by Pure Flix Studios, a Christian multimedia company that also produced “What If…” (2010) starring Kevin Sorbo, John Ratzenberger, Kristy Swanson, and Debby Ryan.

If you can’t make it to the screening, “Silver Bells” will debut nationally on Sunday, December 1st at 7:00pm ET on UpTV (formerly Gospel Music Channel).  UpTV’s website describes Boxleitner’s character Bruce Dalt as “an ambitious, gung-ho father and local TV sports anchor who approaches the holidays much like he approaches life – competitively”… his catch phrase is “for the win!”

Earlier this year, “Silver Bells” was approved for an incentive of $177,655 on $591,213 of projected in-state spending.  Local crew was hired for the project.  10 West Studios also led the post-production efforts on the project, keeping the entire project in Michigan.
