Gas Price May Go Up

gas pump nbc chicago  Here’s the latest from Ed:   Comment on the November 11 prediction:  Prices did rise the next day (CORRECT), but only to $3.35 (a bit WRONG).

Monday, November 18, 2013, 8:00PM:  Retail prices have been dropping like a rock, but wholesale prices have not, setting a price hike this week.  With prices as low as $3.03 in Rockford, we are looking at a hike coming on Tuesday or Wednesday, maybe back to $3.35.  Cross our fingers, though, that a hike this week will lead to no hike during Thanksgiving week.  In Gas Game alumni news, former GG writer Patrick DeHaan was interviewed recently by CBS Chicago, providing a nice explanation of cyclical pricing in the Great Lakes region.  –Ed Aboufadel

Awhile back they said gas prices would be below $3 a gallon by Christmas 2013….what happened to that theory? (Just being a little snarky tonight). :)

    1. Bill Steffen says:

There are a handful of gas stations in Sparta and Cedar Springs that dropped to $2.99 today, one was $2.98. Unless they’re making a lot of money off the stuff inside, they’re losing money at that price.

  3. Daniel G says:

Reading Bloomburg Business News the other day…gasoline inventories are at an ALL TIME HIGH. Gasoline production in the US is at an all time HIGH. We can and should become fuel independent, some say by 2015, and will become a major energy producer/exporter to the world.
Look for stable gas prices…maybe not $2.50 though but around $3 a gallon give or take. That is a plus for the economy and puts extra money in the pockets of us folks who can then spend it on other things..or hey…even SAVE it. (doubt that!)

  4. Brad says:

Per my calculations, we should be paying $9-13/gallon depending on the season. I know the administration was planning a minimum gas price mandate that would push the average to $4-5/gallon starting in 2015 but they may be squeamish to pull the trigger after the messy rollout of the ACA. Speaking of the ACA, the tech issues are kinda shocking considering the technical proficiency of the campaign team’s techies.
