modis lake michigan winter jan 29 2014    modis lake superior jan 29 2014modis lake huron modis lake eriemodis lake ontario   Here’s MODIS satellite pictures of all five of the Great Lakes, starting with Lake Michigan in the upper left, then Lakes Superior, Huron, Erie and Ontario.  Click on the pictures to enlarge.  You can see the ice along the Michigan shore.  It looks like Torch Lake has an ice cover and you can see the Finger Lakes (several of which are relatively deep lakes) still have open water.  We’ll see if the strong wind today (Thurs.) breaks up any of the ice on Lake Michigan.

    Just watched your forecast Bill. I must say I am very impressed. You do have a little Yooper accent lol. It looks like Superior is almost frozen over. Hey Bill what are the chances all the lakes freeze over this year?
